Did you just drag and drop the file to that folder (or save directly) and nothing else? Right clicking or opening the TTF to the preview and then selecting install may do more than just copy the file over, maybe it adds minor registry info or something? Seems unnecessary for an OS to do that but you never know...

On my Win7 it also shows some fonts as greyed out in their icons, and when you highlight them while viewing the contents of the font folder, a "Show" button appears in the toolbar. That could also be a factor.

Does the font show up in any other programs (is the problem system-wide or specific to OpenOffice)?
I dragged it to my font folder. It matched the same format as my other fonts. I could open it and get a preview, like with the other fonts. The "install" option was grayed out. I finally just restarted my machine, and that seemed to work.

Thanks for all the help! =D
