It's the same as posting pictures of your pets, your flowers etc, that only you have a personal affection for. Sure there's cat lovers, gardeners, but majority of the people will be like "yep, just another cat/flower". And lets not talk about the quality of the pics themselves. It's the first rule of Photography; don't photograph things that are personal in the mistaken sense that your audience will be touched in the same way.
This thread is testament to the reactions of Bastok's first failure; and yes I call it a failure because I watched the video before I was influenced by any of the comments. It was not very well done, if I can put it in the kindest words. It lacked any sort of coherence..it was just a bunch of clips thrown together to a song that was repeated about 5 times (the song itself lasted 5min or so). His video, like I mentioned above, was of a personal nature to him, and it fell short on the audience because the audience does not have any personal attachment to any of the characters.
Just like in a book or a movie, you have to MAKE your audience care about those characters. In his video, he did not. But hey, if he just wants to do it for the sake of doing it, then that's all well and dandy. But to come off as "my video was such a success! I am highly intelligent!" is not a way to gain a fanbase for any future works you may want to produce seriously.
Not trying to attack you or anything like that btw. I am speaking for myself with these remarks. I am always always trying to help people who want to be creative, but one of the first things you have to learn about it is to be able to take constructive criticisms and feedback, and to NOT take it personally.
Sorry if I come off as attacking though, it is not my intent. /soapbox
