I don't think they're ashamed at all, we get info on a regular basis through the forums and the blog. It could be bigger, yes, but the whole point was for us to keep guessing. I do sympathise for those on small screens though. Now that is a pain.

High resolution pics of the unfinished game: people complain about shitty looking grass and non polished graphics, leaving with a bad impression

Low resolution pics of the unfinished game: people whine they want higher resolution, they can't see shit

Personally, I think the lower resolution pics is the better trade off at the moment.

They can go all out when they get closer to the launch.

I don't think the prupose of the blog is to promote the game on a grand scale, it's only to keep FFXIV on the mind of the loyal and small fanbase while we wait.
