I'm sure there's going to be a " Old Limsa Lominsa" Just like there's an "Old Gridania" Same goes for " Old Ul'dah". I don't think those themes are going anywhere. Just in the New Area's You'll hear the New tunes. =)
That wasn't the case in Alpha but I suppose it could change in beta. You can look for yourself on most any alpha game play videos. The grand company HQs will still have some heroic tunes, I'm sure.
City music shouldn't try and knock your socks off like the old Limsa music did every time you entered the zone or finished crafting something. It should be something that fits the whole... wandering around in the city, meeting up with people and crafting vibe.
Personally, I did like Navigator's Glory, but I really didn't like to listen to it over and over, It's not a song I like to hear looping. This new theme ( which they are all broken up into segments) Has the Welcome Back/Adventurous Vibe. Since they are doing Segmented themes, There should be a Crafting sections, that has crafting like music. That wasn't the case in Alpha but I suppose it could change in beta. As Camate said before, and someone mentioned in hear and so I will repost it here:
imho, Any Music should attempt to knock ones socks off, that's how they will retain players, is by making a game that will knock your socks off. So I disagree with your statement.Ok, ok, joking aside I did check with Yoshi-P and the sound team about the future direction of FFXIV's music. They will be blending the old tracks with new ones to create the soundtrack for version 2.0.

The sequence from 2:05 ~ 2:15 keeps reminding me of 'Little Big Planet' for some bizarre reason.
There must be a similar track in LBP/LBP2, but I can't find it atm.

I love this Limsa BGM, but we'll have access to Limsa and Uldah in first phase of beta? (for the ones who'll have access). Coz if not we'll wait a lot before listen to these in game.![]()
LBP1, 2 freak here... (former, until wife got super super pissed... all my name on lbp websites faded along with it orz. If you see my vids, screenshots on LBP1 it's from LBP1 beta before any patches, updates with all the cool gadgets/tools so looks like crap now.)
I don't recall this part in any tracks, maybe something close to it in LBP2.

I didn't mean "knock your socks off" in the sense that it's nice to listen to. I meant it more like... horns blaring, drums rolling, 'BUMBUMBUM I'M IN~ LIMSA!' kind of knocks your socks off. I can understand walking into a battlefield, or a military quarter or an airship and having some overly dramatic and patriotic music, but when I'm just goofing about in a city?
That's where the " Segmented themes" come into play, If you don't wanna listen to one theme.. you can go to a different area of Limsa and listen. in FFXI and in FFXIV 1.0 it's always 1 theme endlessly looping. Having Serveral themes ( even if it's not your Beloved Navigator's Glory) is actually a "Good" thing. Even the best themes in FFXI and in FFXIV do get old after hearing them 100+ times Endlessly with no breaks. Which is Why I support this change of having Segmented themes.I didn't mean "knock your socks off" in the sense that it's nice to listen to. Well, yeah. The more content they give us the better, I suppose. That's where the " Segmented themes" come into play, If you don't wanna listen to one theme.. you can go to a different area of Limsa and listen. in FFXI and in FFXIV 1.0 it's always 1 theme endlessly looping. Yep, I do agree that the Music has to fit the Area though, However we don't know what the area looks like to justify weather or not the theme fits the area or not. All we can Judge is, " Does the Music sound good standalone".
