New Limsa Lominsa BGM

I know you're all anxious to hear more samples of music! While we won't be releasing too many, Soken and Yoshi-P mentioned that they would like to have release mixes of Ul'dah and Gridania to go along with the recently released Limsa mix to finish out the series.

We are looking into a variety of ways to introduce things, so if you have a request, please let us know!

My biggest wish would be for Project Manager 'M' and Fernehalwes to continue writing articles on the Final Fantasy XIV Blog. Even after A Realm Reborn has been released. They are always fun to read and i love to read about the latest developments and idea's the Final Fantasy XIV team is working on (without giving away too much).

Things like:

• Concept art (f.i. locations, npc's or monsters)
• Music fragments (like the Limsa Lominsa mix)
• Stuff happening on the work floor (f.i. Localization Team, Community Reps Team, Development Team, Design Team)

I even think that it would be great if the Blog entries would be placed(/linked) on the Lodestone page as well.

Another idea would be to reach out to the community and have them send their fan creations to the Final Fantasy XIV team. I've seen so many beautiful Final Fantasy XIV fan creations on the Lodestone forum (i mean, the chocobo statue will be tough to beat (^_^ ) ). Wouldn't it be great to receive fan mail and support from your community? Wouldn't it put a smile Camate's face when he receives a picture of a home made Snurble plushy, or Bayohne when he receives a picture of a clay Morbol, maybe Soken when he receives a link to a YouTube vid where a fan sings lyrics to one of his ARR songs, even Yoshi-p when he gets a drawing of the Wandering Minstrel?

You can even (for example) make a (2-)weekly selection of the creations the Final Fantasy XIV team likes the most, and put them on the blog as well.

Good ear, dude... it didn't even click with me, about that victory fanfare in the video. Personally I'd like to hear the racial theme songs, if there are any. Could make some more YouTube videos with the song and maybe some brief background lore about the race. Kind of like the Team Fortress 2 videos... though this would be like "Meet the Mi'qote".

I'll say right now that I'm biased. I think Navigator's Glory is a brilliant song and perfectly captures exactly what Limsa is about. The sound of the armourers and Blacksmith guild in the back, the horns, the perfect drumlines. Brass. Brass everywhere. It marches and fills your soul with pride at being a Lominsan. This song could fill your sails on a windless day.

The new song is just so... flowery. The lone violin is too soft to be front and center in the song, and you lose the hard-working undertone of the city. There's this air of mystery to the whole song that I find doesn't fit. Limsa doesn't have mystery, Limsa has a kickass leader who'll catch the axe you throw at her face and throw it right back at you.

I'm sure I'll eventually like the song, and I get the feeling that the song will be much better in the context of the city, but still.... Navigator's Glory stands on its own.

Then again, I lived in Limsa for two years, so maybe that song's context has just imprinted itself on me.

With hope we can except areas of the city to sing differently, such that the wistful coasts sound differently then the hammering of ship nails and the saws of hard working impossible to understand Lominsans. Also Yoshida said they didnt intend to but they have made a few changes to Limsa and Uldah, and he is having to decide where to stop - so the music may have even more context.

This is good. I've come to realise that Soken's music is context-dependent, so I'll wait.

Worst comes to worst, I'll just turn off the BGM and play the 1.0 soundtrack in the background :P.
