    I prefer to think of them using a different aspect of the bard. One that fits the bard concept (again, rogue archetype offshoot) while being more appealing gameplay-wise (which, like it or not, was the huge problem with BRD in FFXI).

    You think that isn't a precedent for them to say make Samurai a spear user?
    I don't, as I know the type of rage that would be unleashed if SAM's relic was something other than Masamune.

    Have jobs and classes as separate entities, classes can still mix and match and solo. Jobs can still be more role specific but classes role in jobs would be more akin to a sub job but take on the dual role of also determining your attack range and weaponskill access.
    I'm not quite buying this. I am fixated in ensuring PLD with a staff never takes over how PLDs play ever again, so it'd take a lot more effort to convince me otherwise.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    I know what your saying i hated that for both PLD and RDM. >.< But beyound just outright not allowing them on said jobs, it would come down to the developers to ensure that the weapons defined and excelled in their intended role such as the shield. Rather than be completely outclassed by some enhancement effects on a certain batch of weapons >.> burn in the fire Elemental staves!

    I would think something like this, however a lot of them would be interchangeable. Like an Animist in the Morpher spot, Ranger instead of Hunter. A lot of it just depends on what naming scheme they like. Hardest one for me was the ninja path... because I get the feeling they would want to stay away from the name "Rogue" and use something more FF like.

    From the new FFXI expansion page in regards to Geomancy:


    "This heretofore unknown type of magic centers around either the geomancers themselves or their trusty luopans. While undeniably potent, a geomancer's true thaumaturgic power can only be unleashed by equipping special bells made solely for geomancers' use."

    This would be a pretty cool second job for THM.

    Templar Job added to Lancer Class (Lance and Shield)
    Dark Knight job moved to Gladitaor class (Switched with Berserker from Marauder)
    Freelancer Class changed to Fencer Class
    Parivir added as class.
    Samurai added as job from Parivir.

    Shepherd class (DoL) added
    Beastmaster Job moved to Shepherd
    Scholar job moved to Arcanist Class
    Necromancer takes its place as a Job from Thaum
    Samurai Job moved to Lancer Class.

    • 3 tier (perhaps having to combine multiple jobs to get there) graphic.

    you know, i actually dont see them using Fencer. i think Gladiator will be the basis for redmage, and it will use WHM/BLM as its subs.
