Ability to turn off Linkshell icons and our own names

Pretty sure Ultima Online had a lot of commands and customization. Anyway, for those people saying the people who want the linkshell icons/names changed or hidden hate XIV...I don't hate xiv. I just hate how these new linkshell icons hurt my eyes and wouldn't mind there being an option to turn last names off. Love SE <3

I know you guys don't hate ffxiv. Just seems funny no one brought this up till now. So kinda wonder why. I'm also not saying its a bad idea either, just a bit concern on space usage. I can't afford the 300 ish hdd for the ps3

I know I would suggest more ideas if I knew I wouldn't have to argue them out with someone who insists they dont disagree, but who then procceeds to post a million and one excuses agasint the ideas implimentation.

Wasn't fighting, But what I said wasn't an excuse. Not like anyone gave me any examples. Also no need to be smug when someone agrees after reassurance.
What I said was out of concern for when the ps3 comes out I wanna beable to play w/o worrying about hdd space. Considering most mmo have limitations to UI set up including WoW outside of addons. Anyway....

Edit* And also, I think given the suggestion - anyone could imagine what a different linkshell icon/name system could be like - Working examples arent really needed, but can help I guess. (Like my suggestion on the very first page which you dismissed as 'not within the FFXIV style', and it was just an example)

I made a thread about this some time ago in the user interface forum. There really is zero reason to see your own name floating above your heads. I don't want to see mine but I want to see others. Turning name display off turns all names off, there needs to be an option to only hide your own. It is a simple feature.

this is pretty much what you guys what

1 a toggle fir the linkshell creast
2 a toggle for your name only
3 a toggle for last names only
4 a toggle for everything minus the repair icon
And I know thats not every suggestion.

think about it like this. a signle mp3 is (fake number) 1kb of data ok byitself it isn't much. But adding 10K sing @ 1kb adds up. which makes it 10K kb.

hmm a better example is stop motion movies much like the fantastic mr fox. That movie while being made took up a few trigs. of memory.

I'm sorry, but is your primary storage device a 3.5 inch 1.44MB floppy disk? Let's say a text command and the associated function is really 1KB:
You'll need 1024KB until it even becomes 1MB, then 1024 of those until it becomes 1GB. The standard consumer hard drive is usually around 320GB~500GB in laptops, 500GB~1TB in desktops. I'm pretty sure we won't have 1,024 text commands any time soon, let alone 1,048,576 or 1,073,741,824 commands. Your "mp3" at 1KB would only get a blip of sound, if even that. A text command is an entryway into future UI implementations, which take up more space than a simple text command so your complaints are pretty damn invalid. If you're that concerned about storage space go out and buy a laptop hard drive on the cheap. That's what PS3 uses anyway.
As for your question regarding which MMOs allow toggling of the player's own name, I found that near instantly in 5 minutes on my 10 day trial of WoW (it's even defaulted!), as well as the ocean of f2p cookie-cutter Korean MMOs my friends and I played out of boredom. Hell, a good number of those F2P's had a guild name/emblem toggle as well. Aion also has all of said options.

You guys really need to read someones post carefuly and look for clues, i am typically blunt and am not afriend to say I dislike something. I never did.
