Except no one was being negative. Why else would you swap notes with western/eastern developers? They know their markets. Yoshida's own words was he felt they should take WoW and merge it with FF, which people consider "the global standard" and pretty much what everyone follows since. Nope, his statement was regarding how XI took EQ and felt that they should do the same thing with WoW, and the evidence is at your finger tips. He stated this because gamers and developers have said they consider WoW the global standard of MMOs now because of how Blizzard streamlined certain aspects. Whether you agree or not, these are words said throughout the past decadeish.

Developers NEED to observe their competition. That has nothing to do with "making more of a standard game".
