    Not sure why Red Mage and Blue Mage are stemming from the same class. Seeing that Gladiators already have Scimitars, I'd base blue mage off of Strago from FFVI. Then you can have RDM stemming from Fencer without the need of Freelancer.

    I'd switch Dark Knight and Berserker, so that DRK stems from GLA (who would get GSword access to accommodate that class), with Berserker being based off MRD (who would get to dual wield one-handed axes to accommodate that class)

    Beastmaster I would base if off its own class. I've been cooking up an idea for BST, but its not quite there yet. I wanted to base it around a survivalist motif, with a little more emphasis on survivalist and overt reliance on pets for abilities (in other words, the pet dies = you can't use several of your abilities because they require your pet being alive).

    What would be a class for the job Samurai?
    What second Job would come from that class?
    This is where it gets tricky. The concept of a samurai is so strict in terms of what can be done that it's really limited. I would make the class name Bushi (middle of the road katana-wielder), Samurai being a tank-oriented job stemming from it, and Ronin being a DPS-oriented job stemming from the same. Samurai would be strictly using two-hands in all of their skills while Ronin would use a katana with a wakizashi that is only drawn during certain skills/abilities/weaponskills.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    I thought it would be pretty cool if the jobs could be developed and accessed using a job tree, much like this:



    HOW to arrange/design it is a bit beyond me, however. I was thinking of stuff like 5 mages (disincluding scholar or summoner), could be 5 points of a pentagram to unlock Sage in the center. Stuff like that.

    Berzerker should be Dark Knight's class
    Fencer should be Red Mage's class
    Tamer should be Beast Master's class
    Magus should be Blue Mage's class
    Hunter should be Ranger's class
    Mugger should be Thief's class
    Assassin should be Ninja's class

    To the Op i cant say i agree with all of your suggestions but i really enjoyed how well the presentation was handled. As for another lancer job i for one would really enjoy if the Templar of FFTA was implemented. The idea of a plate wearing pole-arm class able to debuff with weapon skills rather than magic would be a refreshing change.

    As for Samurai with out adding another class my only suggestion would be to have it come from Gladiator, as Any Gladiatorial event would surely bring many different classes of fighters together. Mind you this leaves me in conflict with my personal feelings in regard to Dark Knight. As my favored FF class i have often felt many seem to play up the physical aspects of the job and seem to leave it's magic skills lacking. Truly when represented in FFIV, FFX-2, FFXI, and FFT the job was able to prove not only its strengths but also it's utility in many situations.

    Personally I think a class should never turn into two job, but one job how it is now, main reason for this is lets say a rogue turns into a ninja and a thief job, basically once you get your rogue class to 50, your thief and ninja will automatically be 50 once you unlock them and do the 5 quests for abilities on a job.

    It's a lot to process for SE doing the class into job method, personally I would scrap it on ARR and just have straight up jobs, but Yoshi did say he will be keeping class's and jobs for ARR.

    Have not looked at all the class/jobs yet but for thief and ninja I would use.

    Rogue class turns to Thief job.
    Assassin class turns to Ninja job.

    The alternative is to limit 1 job to 1 class, and they become prerequisites to more niched classes.

    Pugilist (MNK) + Lancer (DRG) > Thief (NIN)
