I suppose I was in 8th grade or so when I read it. Then again, there's a reason the book and movie are famous - they offer a more honest view of society than most author's like to include. She's not meant to be necessarily likable, but tragic and pitiful for knowing only a fleeting few days of happiness and hope in a world of endless meanness. Personally I thought Sue Snell and Mrs. Desjardin were the characters you're supposed to relate to. (Is there somewhere else we can take this discussion? I'm having fun, but don't want to clutter the thread anymore. XD)
But back to the XIV topic, the meme was more a reference to how pink clothing was labeled "Red" and the way the coatee puts breasts on display. The Elezen girl must burn the sinful garment and pray to the Twelve for forgiveness.

Lol, I'm not sure this thread is capable of being off topic. But I don't read books for their amazing realism. If I wanted to see something as realistic as a stupid unlikable girl getting picked on by other stupid unlikable people, I wouldn't need to buy a book to do that, I could probably just walk into any public school in America (Or any forum online). A book needs to make me CARE about what's happening, and Carrie completely failed at that.I suppose I was in 8th grade or so when I read it. There's a reason Justin Beiber is popular too... I don't know what that reason is, but it doesn't make it a good one.
But yeah, I got the joke.
