I can agree with you there, however I can think of a interesting feature from WoW that made this better!

WoW had soul stones (I'm sorry if the name is wrong it's been awhile) that 3 players in a party would touch and you could instantly teleport the party member to your location! It takes the whole traversing across desert, ferry and airship out of the equation and had a cool effect and story too!

The only drawback with this system is you could only do it at instanced dungeons where the soul stones were located.

I would like to see a mobile version of it for all players. Maybe even make it craftable and you would have to have the stones on you to preform the ritual to bring the player to your location. To make it less of a pain the the arse, you only need 1 stone which you can break and split out to 2 other party members. So that you only need 1 person to have it, preferably the party leader! And each stone would have 3 time use before running out of charges and needing to get a new one! 3 times usage should be plenty to fill a party after having 3 members already to use the stones. (I just like to see things get added to the game for crafters/gatherers, Purely optional)

The other way is you just have stone on your character and 2 other players and you preform a ritual to summon the player to your location.

Hate to say it but I feel WoW's transportation network is far superiour to FFXIV's... I SAID IT lol

(lots of options, many of the options are just plain fun to ride, still requires some travel to zones (maintain connection and scale), and never takes 'too long')

I'm sad SE isnt using all their great ideas and artists on unique transportation because we've seen some awesome ones in past FF. Even the ones that are already in FFXIV either just take up space or wont even be available in ARR.

I believe the warlock used his soul stone to cast the spell with 3 other people, but I forgot the spell name - still +1'd.

Umm... I'm not saying replace FFXIV's transportation system with WoW's! I'm just plucking the summoning stone feature from WoW and dungeons to be used in XIV. I see it fitting in nicely and a very nice solution assembling your party faster without waiting on them to find your location.

I modified it a bit by making summoning stones portable, because I realize that not all parties that are formed are always at dungeons. This would be useful for XP/Quest/(Spirit bond) as well. (Sorry I had trouble remembering the name equipment usage for Materia).

Oh I know :P - But I am. Except I think SE could do WoW better* lol - so not pluck as much as own.
    * I dont mean take all of WoW and try to copy it all, just that like what WoW did "examine the best game/s around and improve, so should SE - and honestly GW2 is not the best (not horrible either), nor is its traveling system.." >.>

If you are talking about the Spirit Bond parties, to spirit bind an item - then you got it :P lol

lol yeah, it's been so long since I played XIV. I'm starting to forget what it was like. Such a distant memory now.
Some of the finer details of the game I'm starting to forget! lol
Oh well it will make it easier to learn the new features of ARR! lulz

It's funny how people are now using the good stuff in WoW as an example here when they were all "I don't want a f****** WoW clone!!!" when the first ARR gameplay was shown.

Well I've never been the person who hated WoW like that :P, I freely admit WoW has many redeeming qualities. But I cant get past some major design styles and thus its not the game for me.

But yeah there are some people who hate the game for the reason to hate it, like FFXI. "Nothing good can come of it" people lol. WoW obviously did some things right because it took the market and ate it whole.

Oh and I dont support cloning because you need to improve your game, WoW took the games out at the time and improved them - FFXIV cannot clone WoW else it will be behind in the times, it must improve upon what was great (and its own design style, so somethings in WoW just dont fit and thats fine, like WoW's art style... thank god.. ). So clones will suck but thats not because the game they cloned from sucks its because they are working backwards instead of forwards. WoW was built forwards, if you want to clone WoW in the sense of how it was built you must work forwards.

I can definitely understand not playing WoW because of the design, I hate the cartoony style it have and is the biggest reason I can't get into it. But I got the feeling that people here hated the features in WoW because they are in WoW so it's a bit funny that I'm starting to hear people talk about stuff WoW does and want it in the game. My post wasn't directly pointed at you though.

Edit: I Agree with you on the cloning stuff.

Allow reverse-teleports only then (summoning)? The only people who are going to be concerned with the wait times are your parties when needing to work in the same area. Maybe when some 10 levels too high for the zone, allow teleports across it, but there's no reason for people to insist on removing the experience just because *they're* done experiencing it.

I was contemplating this in another thread I'll leave this here too because I feel it also could serve resolving this desire as well?

I was just thinking about Bahamuts Labyrinth, and if its done right it possibly could satisfy the adventurers appetite.

What people get out of exploring is the reward and the finding of wonderous places to look at.

The labyrinth could have multiple corners and turns, almost like a maze, but not a place you could get "lost" in. While exploring the labyrinth you could find chests, some could hold something pitiful such as 100 gil, or maybe a animal skin. While other chests could hold much grander items and gil such as maybe 1-5k gil, and maybe half a stack of a rare crafting item, or maybe even a great item such as a rare untradeable piece of gear. These chests might require a full party to get to and would be difficult.

You could also possibly find deep within the cavern a very nice place, such as a waterfall or some other nice looking place to view. Maybe really go all out, and make it a sanctuary? It could include maybe a special Moogle shop that sells items at a discounted price? Something like in FFXII, the Baknamy Merchant in the Nechrohol of Nabudis

Additional notes: The chests could appear at random places and once obtained they disappear until a specified amount of time (time would be in relation to the balancing system decided by SE.) They have a percentage of how often they can appear in certain rotation. For instance: Chest A could appear behind the powerful monsters and contain the best items 99% of the time, but 1% of the time it could appear in the complete open or the sanctuary. They could either have set locations in which they appear or have an area percentage. (all relation to lag prevention and balancing per SE.)
