That's the kind of stuff we need. More interfaces, more mini games, more fun.
I mean we used to end up in submarines or fighting ultimate weapons in FF.. We need to get back to our roots imo.

As for playing with random people.. That's what an MMO is for.. Jebuss. If you log into an mmo and decide you don't want to meet people. You are seriously playing the wrong kind of game..lol
I can't imagine how miserable I'd of been, had I not taken the time to shout and make parties, to use the search function and everything I could, to meet new people, to make things happen.
I would of never beaten every primal and Van Darnus, that's for sure..
Would of never met My A-Team.. Great people btw...

I use to play with JP players all the time in ffxi..
In ffxiv though they were much less willing to party with Westerners.. Makes me a bit sad. I was friends with some of them.
We'd talk in translate.. It's so easy to be prejudice. But seriously we are all the same..
Party with them a few times and talk to them and you would see it..
I loved JP parties.. Those fellas were not about the nonsense.. It's go time when you got into one of their parties..
Not only that but they made sure you used your abilities properly.

But for the most part, in the end you'd have a group of people, willing to hang in through the hard times, to get the job done.
Those were the people I stayed in contact with. Not the ones who joined and dropped.

I almost felt like it was a way for me to find the people, who weren't willing to just throw in the towel, when faced with a difficult task.
Those are the kinds of people you go to primals with.
I'm impressed. You must have a lot of patience, because I utterly hate that part. When I log into any game, I want to play and make some kind of progress during my time online. I don't want to sit on my hands, or pray that no one leaves my group by the time I find enough people. I want to play on my time, and not on anyone else time. However there is a fix for that. Thank goodness for content finder.

Most importantly, if I have only 30mins to play, I'll do some questing, gathering or crafting. If I have 2 hours I'll do some exp dungeons, or raids with people. Its all about the options. The more freedom we have to play at our own pace the better in my opinion.

Thus gimping options isn't the wise route.

I can completely relate and well said ^^.
I guess in the end I'd have to say, there is a better way to do it, than how it was done.
Still though, I can't help but think I may of never met some of those people, had it been any different.
I'd loose that time again, if it meant meeting quality people.

PS: I was and am extremely patient "in game" lol..
I think FFXI prepared me for it.

Well, in some instances you either waited for a good party or found something else to do. (Garuda... Hamlet...) And you're right. Eventually, you'd have a friendlist full of talented eager beavers to go partying with. It's just the first part that's hard on the patience.

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~

Not if you actually stop and read the text. Well, unless the guys that wrote the quest text failed at conveying the zone and setting to you. Then that's the writers' fault.
There's no occasion to kill mobs never listed on a quest, there's no occasion to stop and look around, no reason to ever return to an old zone, there's nothing but being shuffled from one place to the next like cattle with all your leveling practically being done for you, in a never ending stream that begins to feel mind-numbingly linear.
You can choose to stop and look around whenever you want. If you're the type that doesn't have people to catch up to, you're more than free to explore and see all the nooks and crannies of a zone. That's not something the game will or should ever do for you.

As for the other part, the story is used to hide the mob grind, has you move around enough where you're not bored to tears from standing in the same spot killing the same mob over and over.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

Something else, in The Secret World, which is also quest-leveling based, there are these types called "Investigative Quests" where you solve mysteries and puzzles, sometimes literally researching things on the internet to solve them. SO Neat! ARR would be a great place for quest leveling like that (the "GC Midlander" thread being a great example of why^ ^). The point being, its all about how they do it, right? Quest-based leveling could be really fun and painless while still being challenging. Besides, theres always monsters hanging around...easy enough to find some brainless grinding, with or with out quests.
