I can't speak for everyone but I like FF and I like Elder Scrolls but if I had to choose I would pick FF any day. TESO looks good but I doubt I will play it unless FF XIV turns out terrible, which is unlikely.

never new there was a elder scroll online thanks man i will keep an eye on it
now base on what i see, i will check it out.
formost i will be playing ffxivi but if that tanks then i guess i got a back up game
off topic
is it me but when i saw the video of the combat/class systems
reminded me off the armory system
Although i havent checked the ES online site in a while, they havent shown very much information. So in that aspect i cant really make an informed opinion about it. However, although oblivion and skyrim were great games, they were littered with bugs. If they want TESO to do well they need to keep an eye on this. Imho, on this issue ARR is on top because of the massive player feedback and attention to detail.
but tbh alot more of my friends have been playing the edler scrolls than a ff title. Yoshi has already said he's not rushing to launch until the game is at a certain standard. If arr fails, theres a good chance imma play TESO.
Which brings me to my final point. PSO 2 is going to be NA ported any time soon. It has already gotten rave reviews and its f2p. As far as im concerned, im going to play PSO2 until arr launch, and maybe after if arr isnt so good
As much as every Elder scroll from Morrowind onwards has enthralled me, ive been looking at TES online and it just doesnt do it for me...Ill be sticking with FFXIV...im playing Guild Wars 2 at the minute but its a very empty experience.
This game actually looks really good. I am not a fan of The Elder Scrolls series, nor have I ever spent money on it, but I have surely been able to offer them praise for their good work.
I dont play them because they just arent my style of gaming.
As a big BIG fan of TES lore, I can say I'm not very excited for TESO, nor have high hopes of it succeeding. It's just an overall feeling I have, but of course I could be completely wrong. Have to wait and see.
Don't think TESO and FFXIV:ARR are rivals. They're completely different setting and people probably like either (or both) for completely different reasons.
In the event of TESO being glorious, I can't say I'd quit FFXIV for it, but I'd probably want to play some of it too.

TESO doesn't sound like its going to be your typical holy trinity MMO. Doesn't mean it is going to be bad, but I know from all they crying and griping about class/job definement that went on that people NEED their dead set holy trinities or they can't play the game. Im sure TESO will recieve the same crying, but If I were them I would stick to what they are going to do. Not every MMO needs to be tank/heal/dps to be fun.
I wouldn't say it will rival ARR, but it will be different, and you can take a different approach to how you play the game and have fun either way.
TES is one series I never liked simply cause of the bland combat and that game being horrendous unless you are playing in First person and even that does not help. The open world and quest were nice but if a game has bad combat i just can't stomach it, it's something you do 90% of the time in rpg's and in my book it should never be bad.
So with that said the single player games made me never wanna touch another TES game even if it is an MMO.
I won't be playing any other MMO unless they give me a Legacy status!!! :P
Up and comings aren't a rival to FF14. FF14 is a rival to up and comings. FF14 did something no other MMO did when it "failed". People had a year to play for free and become attached to it. That affinity, that attachment is the true power of any MMO. I've played EVE Online for 8 years, not because of the things that annoy me but because of that character affinity. Knowing what you are doing. Knowing the MMO world you are in.
