=p how about making an FFXIV app that way can be updated with patch info and changes and organised in a easy to read way. You can read it anytime on your portable iphone, andriod phone, ipads and whatever haha . Maybe even link your character info, data, achievement,, exploration completion, maps and more .

    P/S: Hmmmm...
Maybe a GPS of my character in game, ( opps thinking too far here lol, was thinking google maps) =p

There is no point in releasing a strategy guide for an MMO, it quickly becomes out of date, like the FF XI one did. You are better off using the internet. I'd probably still buy one though if it had pretty pictures lol.

I agree that Wikia as well other online sites are much better to use for MMOs like this game, but think of the PS3 player that is new to the game playing at launch and doesnt have quick easy access to websites(like us PC users have by just alt-tab). They can have a stratagy guide sitting on there lap as they explore and learn the game. I did this back when i first started playing FFXI and it helped me out immensely, I remember looking at Advanced jobs like Samurai in the guide and was stoked to try and get to 30 as fast as i could so i could unlock it, the same could be true for new players in ARR when they see Paladin they want to level gladiator as fast as they can to unlock it. just because we wouldn't use the guide doesnt mean there shouldn't be one available for the new players starting out imo.

Yes..which is why they reprint them every 2 years if the MMO actually lasts that long.

And it's free! Or at least it's cheaper than buying the book. All you need is a printer, black printer ink, and BAM! you got yourself a guide! In fact, you got yourself several!

Only if you do it as a traditional book. But it can work as an E-book.
Easy to update for the writter and once someone buyed a version he can download the future versions for free. Of course, for the pictures the reader need a good e-book reader.

Yet, a printed guide would start becoming outdated and could/would contain incorrect information as soon as the very next hotfix.. which potentially could be mere days later. It's a waste to buy a printed MMOs guide for the purpose of using it, when then the same, likely much more accurate info, can be found easily and for free. I can understand the collectors interest in them though.

They could just do a digital subscription that's updated at least monthly (perhaps even weekly). For 2-5 bucks a month or something you could get a XIV game magazine that serves as a 'guide' for new and popular content for the time period (you could always peruse through the archives for guides on older content). Depending on how well it was done, I'd definetly consider paying for a guide like that, if only for noveltly of having that option versus searching through wikia and other various sites.

I never thought about the possibility of a Ereader/tablets,

this is also a solution to the post above about taking guide to toilet, cuz i dont know about you but reading about stuff on the toilet should be right up there with baseball as a national pastime lol

I think a phone app would be better so you wouldnt have to use a tottally separate computer and it would be rignt in your hand with the info you needed.
