The problem with printed guides for a mmo is they get outdated very quickly because patches change stuff.



A guide book for a MMO would be outdated after 6 month. Most guides for MMO I have seen are in game magazines.
But what SE can bring is an interactive world map on Lodestone. Something like this:

why in the hell do you need a game guide? play the game figure stuff out, its not hard at all.

To be fair I lost my copy of Starcraft like 10 years ago. But I can goto the blizzard site and DL it whenever I want. If an MMO is alive and vibrant then a hard copy guide is impracticable. Brady stopped printing theirs because it was cost prohibitive to try and keep up with all the changes and content additions associated with FFXI. Hopefully FFXIV will have the same problem.
