/show names - OFF, ON, or OTHERS ONLY

This is one of the dumbest (but not the lease expected) threads I've i've ever read in my whole FFXIV life...
I really really hope they consider this as a last priority.

Let me remind you about grass, gobbues, jump etc. discussions that have been blown out of proportion. You, sir, haven't been following the forums very well !

Uuuumm....yeah the feature that the OP was requesting (hide own name only) was added in 1.0. So...it wasn't the dumbest idea ever. nice try though!

Yeah, I kinda wanted to expose the "pink elephant", but what the thread implies is more features to cover up your name or the names of 'others'. NOT just his own name... and the discussion goes on and on.... and on....

Just trying to point out that the BETA isn't even begun. This isn't as important as to delay important content the majority of players have been wanting since the beginning. (yeah, i can be a jerk sometimes but just wanted to point that out)

yeah this thread is also from 2011...and this forum is designed for feedback/ideas for the future so I still don't know what you're saying. I also think you didn't fully understand the OP

Please excuse the bump! We have some updated name display information for you all:
In ARR, we will be making it possible to toggle the settings in the configuration so that you can select whether you’d like to display both first name and last name or just one of the two.
We have noted your suggestions in this thread and will continue to listen carefully to everyone's feedback in order to have a satisfactory amount of name display settings.

I think they should just make an option to hide last names only (not first names).
