All you "latency freaks" should try and play any PvP game with it's servers outside of your region and see just how terribly those miliseconds hurt your gameplay to the point where it is unplayable. As a south american, I always get this horrid latency no matter which server I choose (if given the option at all), and guess what? It makes no difference whatsoever.

As an example, I play LoL on a pretty regular basis on either the EU or US servers, and if I've ever had any lag issues, it's been because of my ISP rather than the dreaded latency. I play with an average latency of 130ms, and it does not affect me at all. Ever. I do, however, see pricks with ~30ms latency or so complaining about lag whenever they die, though. In the PvP aspect of gaming, lag is more often than not a simple and lame excuse.

Staying put, international. New servers should put those latency related problems to rest anyways.

Quoted for loaded statement. While lag is often used as an excuse, it can very well be a genuine problem. a ping difference of ~200ms is a measurable disadvantage.

There's a difference between "oh i died, musta been lag!" and actually having a genuine lag issue. and those issues do happen- often enough that the excuse becomes so popular.

They can't afford to neglect anything about this game so I don't see them putting off servicing US based servers. If they plan to open them over here, they need to have a plan to do maintenance just like any other MMO especially if this whole endeavor is to redeem themselves.

I'm making a switch, but the Alpha version was on Japanese servers and there wasn't any lag I noticed. Even at peak hours for those of you unsure.

Speaking of that, but i do hope that regional servers, being in data centers in that area, will be maintenanced on a timetable friendly to that area. e.g. not doing a maintenance during jp offpeak which is na primetime.

I've never played anything with ping that high anyway even in my sort of unfavorable location (except maybe 1.0). I'd be willing to bet that most of the time people get latencies so high that they actually become notable, it's because of something on their end (say, their ISP, active downloads/uploads or other users in their network or something) rather than just the actual server's location.

Some people can actually tell the difference between 30ms and 130ms. And usually the only problem is if they're used to the 30, but then all of a sudden have to play with 130.

It wasn't a loaded statement. He stated "more often than not", which I then quoted as obvious truth. Nothing loaded about a statement that taken verbatim is completely true.

Perhaps you believe any issues you've faced with PVP in the past have mostly attributed to your lag. Impossible for me to prove, but I'd highly doubt that was the case. In any event, you would sound just like all the rest of the players at the bottom of the leaderboards..

And as this page of statements shows, people will argue until they are blue in the face about latency.. This is why I'm just going to go on my regions server, and not deal with it lol.
