Area for Samurai and Ninja

Yes that would be if they decide to extend the job ranks even further... If they don't decide to then I would think they would have ninja extend to samurai since they could relate the story of the extension quests with ninja and samurai together... plus it is not the first time they had one class extend to a non-similar class. Archer/bard is a bit of a weird one, but Ninja/Samurai would be worse. They'd have to either have ninja use great katana, or samurai use regular/small katana, and I'm pretty certain potential samurai wouldn't want to be wielding a wakizashi, unless it's in their offhand while their main hand is holding a great katana (daisho ftw! )

Actually the samurai might have the small katana as an off hand. They always used to carry it in case they ever got captured so they could commit seppuku... And you're right unless they get the ninja's to use great katana's I doubt the ninja will extend to samurai... Although I think I remember reading a while ago that it wouldn't be uncommon for ninja to use great katana, they were taught many forms of fighting after all...

Samurai shouldn't branch from Ninja. They're from different worlds with different rules. One is a cold blooded assassin and the other is a noble warrior.

I'd also like a traditional Japanese like look with these armors for Samurai.

I'm not sure if samurai and ninja is in the devs radar right now. I know that they are interested in summoner and possibly musketeer. But I've heard nothing of ninja and samurai.

These two jobs were mentioned specifically in a question to the producer about masamune. This was specifically mentioned in the live panel for the anniversary event. He said that they dont want to implement that weapon until there is a samurai and/or ninja class that can actually do it justice.

Though I loved summoner I would rather be a beast master again. Rather then arcanist I would rather be a samurai or ninja again. Rather then Musketeer I would rather be a archer who doesn't have to be a damn bard. It's like SE -kind of- listens to people and then totally does something different sometimes..

People missed summoner so we have this whakabrainy idea to re add summoner, give carby to arcanist(Like seriously WTF?!?!) and still have some odd primal linkshell summon idea that just screams HMLS endgame claimbots again (imo)
People miss bard so we made ARCHERS sing a song? @.@(worst idea ever, ruined archer imo..)

I dont want XI-2 but I want my XI classes back. These new ideas turn my stomach..

I wonder how deep into the asian theme SE will go with samurai and ninja - I am confident that those two classes will have resemblance to their real counterpart as for one it would be illogical not to (call something its not) and for two they've always done it.

But say the home town or wherever these quests are obtained.. Will it have an Asian theme like romanticized and real landscape, architecture and culture? If so I'd further wonder if our player homes will get an update to use these structures and lands.. I'd like to have an Asian temple XD perhaps secluded - in some far away update it would be nice to have your own plot of land in your own area "I own this mountain and temple that rests upon it".

Yoshida definitely has these two classes on the sooner to do list, but said that he wants more mage classes first to balance out the DoW to DoM ratio. Looking forward to concept art

Summoner is tied to the storyline because of the Primals, so it has to come first before any of the other jobs.
