No, as it is annoying and unnecessary ^_^
Answer: NO.
It is annoying enough when someone kicks you out of a group because you don't have high enough equipment melds.
And then there are those who constantly tell you, "Why are you still wearing that Templar gear?" or "You really need to upgrade your gear." Then they tell me my LS stinks because everyone in their LS has better gear.
Sad to hear about your problem, but people are gonna kick you out regardless of whether you knew they checked you.Answer: NO.

i always hated it. glad its gone.
I dunno why people are so against this.
I liked when someone checked me out... it meant that for some reason this person paid interest in me and it often lead into a conversation.
It's not all about "your gear sucks" - there is actually a LOT of players that collect gear for looks and idle in them because they like the way it looks and have a totally different set for actual action.
To me it feels that people have very low self esteem if they feel that someone examining through them is rude. If you are wearing the gimpest gear in the universe, who cares, maybe your gear is work in progress?! No one makes laws about what SHOULD be worn and the people who claim they do are just morons who I wouldn't waste my time with anyway.
And if someone has time to critize, I am sure they then have time to help you improve your gear, that's what I always say to ppl who say my gear sucks XD
Furthermore, it's a game and one big aspect of it is gathering gear. This is not a real person going through your underwear drawer.
There is a little Monkey in all of us....
I love your viewpoint. Very nice.I dunno why people are so against this.

No, it shouldn't be added to the game. All it did was make people buttholes in XI, and we don't need any more of that nonsense in XIV.
I inspect gear so often out in the field, dungeons, towns.
From my experience in FFXI most people would say nothing if you examined them, but there are always those people, you know those ones.
"WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT MY GEAR?!??!?!"
Like they were just waiting for you to do it...
