    The lack of creativity: Dev or US?

    Whenever i read these request post, i just feel there is a lack of creativities.

    Most of the requests are things from and features from directly another MMORPG.

    Yes, it will be popular definitely, but that path is what exactly WoW has been following since their beginning.

    I think we should just leave it to the dev team for their creation or let's built something more innovation or creativity.

    - For example, why do we even need to jump to begin with? It just save your time from going up hill to down hill right?

    This can be fix by having characters equip grappling hooks in their throwing slot, so they can auto-climb upward or downward.


    - Want to remove fatigue system? Let's fix it, Instead of removing it, your character could go to one of the new theme park and log out there or EAT food to reduce the level of fatigue. Wouldn't it be more fun when your character is tired, you found your character all better after a night of sleep or after taking a bath? or play mini games to reduce fatigue

    - Auction house? How about a REAL auction house that have active auction in each city? Wouldn't it be more fun to see NPC up the stage in a special instance shouting out items and banging that hammer against the table? How should it works? Simple, players can leave items to the NPC as part of their day, they set a minimum amount willing to sell (of course, 1 gil or base on the minimum off market wards), every hours auction house should auction a different "category" of item and it should always be different between city, so 3 category will be feature. NPC should also add some "surprises" that isn't contributed by players as well. Then let the bidding start in the old fashion auction house way!


    There is always more ways to make a game fun, don't just copy and paste. Innovate them as well!

    Why cant we have jumping ? instead throw a grappling hook and blablabla ? <.<

    why do we need to make the game more annoying that it should be, like your AH example, there is nothing good in that idea, why do we need to put 50 roadblocks to just go and do something that should be as easy as go to the AH, search for Y item click buy and be done ?

    DCUO has an active auction house and it's annoying. 500 concurrent auctions about the same thing. It's the not the U.S., it's when this game was release, there is no lack on ingenuity there's a lack of showing they put any thought into the game when it comes to certain aspects i.e. mage classes and main storyline quests (few and far between). I think if FFXIV had come out now or even lets say 3 months from now it would be much better, I paid to play a week early for a skeleton of a game, have I lost hope? No, and I won't quit the game, the first year of all mmos is rocky.

    Well, lets look at this like the US and the Russians. The US spent tons of money and time making a pen that can write in 0 gravity..

    The Russians used a pencil.

    Seeing how this game is currently producing no ROI... i think they want to take the fastest way to make the players happy and get their ROI for their work.

    They tried to be completely different, the ideas where there, but they didn't test throughly enough. They can waste more time and money trying to be different or they can use the knowledge of a successful MMO and make a game that your average person wants to play that is ff themed.

    And a grappling hook? Really?... having to sit through a real auction? have you ever been to an auction? They are the most boring places in the world.

    I do think that, more than lack of creativity on the players' side, there's a LOT of lack of the ability to approach a new game with an open mind. This isn't the first game in which I see this.

    I see a lot of people that simply can't accept that an original/different feature can sometimes have the potential to be equally good or better than what they're used to.

    Which is very sad.

    An open mind is one thing.. Some of the more drastic changes I love.. Market wards, retainers, the armory system, the crafting system..

    Like I stated in another thread though, even with all those differences that are unique to XIV, there is alot missing from the game that really needs to be in any MMO coming out now. I'm not talking about things like a dungeon finder or pvp instances, we're talkin about things like better linkshell management, improvements in mob ai, or features that allow us to interact more closely with the environment. Would I be happier if the linkshell interface was more like WoW's guild interface? You betcha!! Would I be happy if it were an exact copy of WoW's guild interface? Yup. It is better than what we have and it works. No need to be super original when there is something adequate already out there that can be utilized.

    There is nothing wrong with being original and different when doing so brings value to the game. There is nothing wrong with "cloning" part of another MMO for use in yours if it fits the purpose (ie Better linkshell interface).

    There is plenty different and original in XIV, what we need now is some good ol fashioned MMOness pumped into the game for us to enjoy the different and original.

    I dont see any reason not to have a jump, if people are worried about bunny hoppers then ask for a jump cooldown or stamina bar consumption from using it.
