Not much different in price if you have a computer already that's semi recent and has PCI-E ports. Most of which have them these days, even the cheap ones.

If you don't mind waiting a few days, you can upgrade a pc to play ARR quite cheaply if you use online retailers, and do a bit of shopping around.

Edit: I'm not trying to sway anyone, one way or another. I just think you all should weigh your options, parts vs ps3, then decide. Can't hurt to look around first, especially if you're just sitting around the forums trying to figure out what to do.

I'll gladly help anyone who wants look for parts if they want, that are decent for a decent price. Just an offer. Have at ye'.

A lot of people simply don't want to deal with PC gaming. They like to just put in the disk or install the game and play it, without having to deals with configuration, framerate testing and all that crap.

PC gaming comes with additional work, and while it's great for many like me that love to dabble with it, not everyone does, and it's great for them to have an alternative.

PS: the PSN only handles the login. Until you're logged into the game, like for DUST 514, the PSN doesn't handle any of the data transfered, that goes directly between you and the game's servers.

Yea, I just said that about PSN... Anyways, I don't know why you went into detail about the ease of using a ps3 over a pc. That wasn't the point. Phe said to look at the cost of a ps3 vs pc parts. Truth is, it's not much different if you own a pc already, if at all. No one ever said this that and the other thing about it. Obviously some people are going to want to play on ps3 regardless. That's common sense.

Yea, I use my PC for things besides gaming too. I don't know why you wouldn't want to use a 50" screen for spreadsheets. You can see everything. Each their own though.

Most of the time it isn't even a price issue. In the every day person's mind, do they want to mess with setups on a PC constantly to play a game or simply have a console that does it all for them? I agree that PC's are dominant always and is the best choice for everyone, but some people want the most "convenient" choice, not the best. The idea of convenience is what has kept consoles over PC's forever now.

You shouldn't need to constantly mess with it though, set it up once and your done. Now if you just go gung-ho and start messing with settings without knowing what youre even doing yea, I agree. I'd assume most people would ask for a basic setup for their rig before buying parts. Most people I've seen for XI and XIV buy parts on other forums always get someone to help out with parts and setting suggestions. I just feel if they want a truly great experience, they should go with PC. To each their own though of course. I buy consoles myself too. I buy them because games I want aren't released on PC though. Nothing more nothing less. If it comes out on PC, I buy that version over the console ones.

Much better graphics and smoother gameplay in some scenarios. Loading times are usually a bit faster too. Regardless, I'm just here to wait like everyone else. Might as well help whoever decides to go PC.

My first reaction was to agree, but on second thought... My computer installs new program versions at least once a week. Sometimes these are no problem, but there are those updates that mess with your system. For example, a recent update to Norton360 blocked all my addresses so I couldn't click on anything. Took a while to get it unblocked. I still don't know what it did. I think it somehow glitched the browzer. So, yea, you can expect to always have to mess with a PC.

And I just bought a PS3 so I can try both systems. I know my computer works fine, so I will mostly be checking the PS3 version to see if it runs just as well.

I don't use any bloatware. Nor do I update Windows or my software most of the time. So I guess I'm ruled out and alone on this one.
