After the End of Era flash/Gigaflare, the very first part of the new intro reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy Tactics.

Lots of FF games have characters riding into the sunset on chocobos (although I guess FFT was the first to do it in CG).

As for Hildebrand, uh, I don't know what version of the trailer you're watching but 6:48 shows Odin on Sleipnir for me - and I've watched both the UK and US versions (the only difference is the rating at the start). I even looked carefully throughout the entire trailer and couldn't find that bumbling buffoon anywhere (shame he isn't there though - you got my hopes up for a second!).

Unless he's hidden somewhere in the background of the scene with Y'shtola in Limsa Lominsa.

Sorry you're right, it's just my own personal opinion that I want to believe Hildebrand became the Dark Rider similar to Luzaf in XI. I don't think he could of survived Dalamud any other way but I don't have proof to support this, he can still be his goofy self when not in Dark Rider form. My only other theory is that Odin is another "van" with the Empire since they all do have similarities.

Re: chocobo claw - that's right, there was a brief shot the FFT opening where Gafgarion and his flunkies chocobos splash in a puddle, but it wasn't at the start of the scene like the new 2.0 trailer. I don't remember it being like that in any event in the remade opening for the PSP remake.

As for Odin, haha, that's an interesting theory! Somehow I don't see the Agent of Inquiry turning into an evil roaming Elder Primal (which Odin is apparently) easily. Instead he's probably spent the past five years with Nashu trying to infiltrate Imperial encampments by masquerading (not too successfully) as Garlean guards, and promptly keep getting themselves beaten up as a result.

Instead he's probably spent the past five years with Nashu trying to infiltrate Imperial encampments by masquerading (not too successfully) as Garlean guards, and promptly keep getting themselves beaten up as a result.

Who better than to change into Sleipnir!

All joking aside, as much as I'd like to see him as the Dark Rider he is just a Side Story where as Odin will more than likely be part of the Main Scenario. I'd also like to see Sleipnir as a summonable mount for SMN but probably unlikely.

The opening portion of A Realm Reborn was alright, but it definitely lacks that "wow" factor that the ending video had. When I first brought up the video and it said 8 minutes I was surprised. Then I seen the meteor portion again. Got past that, and no mention or sighting of Bahamut, instead Odin comes out of nowhere. No Garleans to be seen. Also am I the only one or did the opening portion look like it had frame-rate problems? I seen slight dips.

Ofc no one sighted Bahamut, he's trapped in the crystal tower?

Trailer got really lame after they summoned their chocobos. It was like... dude. Its been 5 years. What the hell were they doing at the forest?

Chocobo skelletons should have appeared in their stead. Starved to death by their abscent leaders.

and maaaaybe they were teleported also, and appeared at the same time as derplander, hmm?

the new opening/trailer whatever was just to show off new stuff that's coming in ARR. They dont need to go into any details. Showing off Odin, Behemoth, new area is good promo i guess.
And you considered it's not the whole video? it might be cut, as not to show to much.
Personally i thought the vid was a bit meh. End of an Era is ofc still epic, but the new stuff wasn't really anything exciting, except Odin.
