    Are you talking about planning for it in game or historically? Because historically its has been used for both one on one and many vs many because they want to simulate mortal combat and not every slave was a soldier or much able to wield any weapon at all. The training stables while old and well document not all slaves came from them as they had a higher price attached. And some prisoners were also thrown in as sport even though it was more so an execution with very lax rules Christians were slaughtered like this until the religion changed

    I guess she's never seen Gladiator or Ben Hur or payed attention in history class during the Roman empire sections, lol.

    Indeed, colosseums have been used to simulate naval battles. Naval battles are not 1 on 1. In Greece, the colosseums have waterways so they can be flooded for such a display, then also to release the water for the next act.
