Speaking of which... Hanemakikaze, while you are waiting for the next episode of Pyscho-Pass (which I believe number 12 is now late by a couple weeks), try watching Jormungand. That's one series that allows you to see the world in a much different light.

I actually already watch Jormungand, and probably enjoy it most out of anything that's been released this year, pyscho pass is also a contender in that category. And as for reading the novel for SAO, the anime has left a bad taste in my mouth, don't want to persue it any further but don't get me wrong I still enjoyed it just hated how the pacing went in almost every episode.

There are not side-stories in that sense. If they left the Aria out, it'd end up with Asuna coming out and marrying Kirito out of nowhere. It was already bad as it was with half of the developing dialogue being cut.

The timeskip was supposed to be there, since it's what the novel does, too. The reason is simple, the author had a submission limit so he had to cut a lot. The second volume, the "side stories" are an attempt to flesh the story out, and if you ask me, it does a good job.

So putting those side stories into the anime was definitely a good idea. Cutting them beyond recognition, wasn't. That's why they feel like a filler, there is 50% of their content missing.

Ment more like in general toward all anime just not sao, but yea they butchered them pretty bad at the start missing most of the content.

Lol, I have been wearing glasses since I was 2 weeks old, my retina never fully developed, I have Occular Albinism AND a severe Nystagmus. All that makes reading hard as hell. I am only 26 though doctors say my eyes can't get much worst then 20/400 and 20/600 L/R unless I suffer heavy eye/head trauma which I intend to avoid. >.>

On-topic: I am still waiting for a ton of animes to be dubbed including SAO but if it did help XIV get more press then I want to see it even more now. :P

oh. didn't come across that way, but fair enough. and regardless, i think whatever the original post was about, the expectation is that any further discussion would be at least somewhat along the same lines- particular anime or manga or whatever causing a surge in popularity of whatever game-related thing (ffxiv/mmos especially since this forum is about that)...

...and instead the thread almost immediately degenerated into which anime people like, and what their anime pet peeves are.

I'm a casual anime fan. Thanks for bringing my attention to SAO. I've been wanting to watch a good anime series after finishing up FMA and FMA brotherhood.

As to your question is SAO helping FFXIV cause by hyping MMO culture? No, I don't think SAO fandom will influence a massive influx of gamers to FFXIV. I think what you're seeing is people who like anime, get excited about SAO. But many of those people won;t be excited to play an MMO, unless it was based on SAO.

I love music. I just started to listen to a band called ††† (Crosses). I'm very excited for more from this group. I'm not however excited for a new deftones album (which shares the same singer). And this doesn't make me want to listen to Nin, or Depeshe Mode, which have similar sounds.

What you're experiencing is your interest in Anime:SAO and your shared interest in MMOs:FFXIV with other people who are similar minded.
