cause they won't ever change the graphics, it's in stone most likely. even if game fails they want the ps3 to do well as well. at worse this game for them will go f2p and they expect the ps3 to work well for the kiddies on it. they can change the direction of a mmo in things in game but spending more money on creating a better looking graphic is probably not gonna happen. the engine they put it on itself was a huge issue and maybe even why it had such good graphics to begin with. (don't quote me on that last statement cause i'm not a tec nerd on graphics, just sounds logical to me) either way they need worry more about the content then what the game looks like. i thought it looks above and beyond what ffxiv 1.0 looked like. it's like a different game just in looks. but it's not what will keep players or have them running. they didn't leave cause the copy paste, they made fun of it for sure but if the content was top notch still, they would of dealt with it.

I'm of the mind that graphics and animations count as content as much as dungeons, gear, and quests. We use the word "immersion" a lot on these boards, and running through all those activities with a character that moves awkwardly and looks cheap is not going to feel as satisfying.

And this is Final Fantasy, a franchise with a long established history of being on the bleeding edge when it comes to graphics.

It goes back to what I said in another thread about FFXIV being judged more harshly by critics and fans alike for using copy-pasted terrain, even though that's been a standard practice in video games for as long as people have been making them. For 25 years, Final Fantasy has been setting new standards, and when a Final Fantasy game is released that is not technologically in the vanguard, you're gonna hear about it.

that is where i'ma always disagree, i don't believe in immersion to much. yes if a final fantasy game these days comes out without summoner cut scenes i get bummed out. but reality is i love to see them a few times and them it's ok, time to shut them off. it's not what will keep me there one bit. when i played the first one as a little kid probably like 7years old on the old school systems i was all about the rpg game. not what it looked like, as they came out time by time ...the graphics grew and got better and yeah it's like nice, nice ...nice with each one. but i'm now at the point where nice isn't what i'm thinking it's ...where's the gameplay from part 1. wheres the content. for me i'm capped on graphics.

yes, when i entered boyda tree for first time i was like awesome and seeing all those little areas with glowy waters and waterfalls, and cool plants and graphics. but i already see that in even the new videos. it's like ahh it looks great, i didn't see the clunkyness. i only saw the lack of difference in mobs and stuff like that, but for me it's to early to tell if i'll like it till it launches cause it's the content i want to put my hands on. to each his own though, i do agree final fantasy is and should be consider a higher standard. so it all depends on personal preferences.

you all keep acting like i dislike the game and think gw2 is amazing or some ball shit but that is not even what i was saying.
twist my words as you will but the fact is im more of a fan and supporter then you will ever be because i was trying to give some advice and constructive criticism, if you want the game to be the same old thing fine i don't care, but that is not everyone opinion and by supporting every little thing that the SE team decides for FFXIV it will be your fault if it turns out to be under appreciated.

oh and for the random people who think im this gifthose or what ever it was feel free to run a background check on me because i played from alpha and beta as Virgal williams and my Original server was Ghysl that then got changed into masamune you can see that me and my brother made a few linkshells from the start of the game so what ever lol.....
