(don't quote me on that last statement cause i'm not a tec nerd on graphics, just sounds logical to me) either way they need worry more about the content then what the game looks like. i thought it looks above and beyond what ffxiv 1.0 looked like. it's like a different game just in looks. but it's not what will keep players or have them running. they didn't leave cause the copy paste, they made fun of it for sure but if the content was top notch still, they would of dealt with it.
I'm of the mind that graphics and animations count as content as much as dungeons, gear, and quests. We use the word "immersion" a lot on these boards, and running through all those activities with a character that moves awkwardly and looks cheap is not going to feel as satisfying.

And this is Final Fantasy, a franchise with a long established history of being on the bleeding edge when it comes to graphics.

It goes back to what I said in another thread about FFXIV being judged more harshly by critics and fans alike for using copy-pasted terrain, even though that's been a standard practice in video games for as long as people have been making them. For 25 years, Final Fantasy has been setting new standards, and when a Final Fantasy game is released that is not technologically in the vanguard, you're gonna hear about it.
