That's exactly what we've been doing. Criticism and feedback to the selection process in the alpha can easily and seamlessly be applied to the selection process for the beta.

Then I would say Okay, Yeah they should put on their Application exactly it is what they actually want in the Beta. and instead of disagree with you all the time ( because all you were talking about it Alpha) I would be agree with you all the way about "what they should do on the Beta Test".

In fact you shouldn't bring up Alpha at all anymore, it's history move forward into beta, Create a new discussion about How Beta Application show be. Then like I said I be more than happy to agree with you, but right now your mindset is still on Alpha, Get off of that get into Beta mode then like I said will be happy to agree and stop "repeating" myself as like you are.

He's been talking about the application process and SE's wording and how it seems to be a bit skewed the entire time. The only "Alpha" he mentions is that's what the current process is regarding because it stays in line with the original topic rather than going off on a personal tangent.

Talking about Beta makes no sense since we're not in the process of being invited for beta. This is what you do, you analyze what the issues are currently rather than just saying "doesn't matter, drop it" for instance and currently, the issues are what he's laying forth in his argument which a lot of people agree with outside of the main forum even if they benefit from it they can see the flaw in the process.

Someone I know who didn't meet anywhere near the minimum specs as he's not a PC gamer got in on 5 accounts he applied with 2 weeks ago.

Well argumented criticism is always based on the past (I can't really criticize what SE will do in the future, since I don't *know* what they will do) and quite obviously can only be applied in the future. I'm quite sure I never asked SE to grab a time machine and change the past, but feel free to quote me if you think I did.

No. I think it would have been appropriate ("smart" is a very inappropriate definition to a development decision), to invite every person that has an *active* FFXIV account to the alpha. The community isn't exactly humongous, so it would have been definitely doable. Then, if they needed additional testers, they could have integrated it with a number of inactives.

Not only this would have provided SE with a more focused and dedicated testing pool, but it would have also reduced by a lot the number of "dummy" testers that just apply to every alpha/beta in order to have a new free game to play for a couple hours and quit afterwards without providing a speck of feedback.

Not to mention the fact that it would have shown consideration for the feedback of those that provided their support for the game and its team when everyone else was spotting on it.



This forum isn't the only source. There are plenty of social networks and other forums to pull data from.

For a beta this might be a good way cause its all about bugfixing, localization and so on. Alpha focuses more on Server Stress tests and some other basic tests. You don't even need so many focused testers you need alot of dummy tester that run around on the server.

I Remember when Alpha test for 1.0 started we had same discussions in the FFXI forums when ppl complained that they didnt get in after playing XI for many years. If we gonna have the same Situation in the beta and masses of Legacy player dont get in at all, i can accept your arguments but not now for alpha selection.

On the surface ^ this to me is appalling. Perhaps though he was chosen to see how a lower than minimum spec machine would run the game? I don't know, like I said before this whole thing seems suspicious to me. I just hope that this is NOT the case and that legacy status members will take precedence in the BETA selection process. I have alot of valuable feedback I would like to divulge to the development team. I'm not stating this because I feel entitled, but rather that I have valuable feedback to convey and want the game to succeed.
