^This is a great idea!It would probably make more sense to select a turnover date. Like on December the 1X, all those that had access to the alpha previously get locked out, and everyone else between the previously active accounts gets access (no inactives this time).
Considering the size of the active community that would prevent server congestion, and would give those that supported the game what they honestly deserve.
I would like an official statement as well, along with many of us.No. No i'm not going to chill.
On the application page it says:
Application requirements:
- Must currently have an active FINAL FANTASY XIV account
So inactive accounts obviously do not fulfill the requirements for alpha.
Still they're getting invites.
I don't see why inactive accounts are preferred over active longtime 1.0 players.
I'm still waiting for an official statement. Please.
Deep down it will never come because they choose to hide under there tables like scared animals and not face the facts of inactive accounts are getting invited. There are other websites out there that sponsor Alpha & Beta testing for MMO's to people who just play it & never give feedback. They don't even have to have an active XIV account because the site provides that for them.
I think you only need to have an active account when you apply the alpha. Today a guy that stopped paying on september got an invite.I would like an official statement as well, along with many of us.

For active FFXIV account i can only suppose that they mean you only had to register the game,
not active subscription...
Anyway it's strange that after so many whine, there isn't a single official response about this.
For the longest time after the opening of the alpha registration, if you tried to register with a lapsed account, it bounced you telling you "your account isn't active, piss off" (I paraphrased).
Only recently inactive accounts managed to get past that. So yeah, "active accounts" means exactly what it means for the rest of the industry. People that were still paying to play.

You keep waiting, they said they will not provide it. The fact that they are proceeding with testing as intended only proves that they are getting what they want from their testers.I would like an official statement as well, along with many of us.

Thank them when its over.
I have three accounts. Two are currently active because I paid for them right up until billing got shut off, and one is not because I stopped using it once billing started. I can not apply for the alpha with the inactive account. I know this because I tried it when people started to claim inactive accounts were getting in even though the app stated they had to be active to even apply.
I assume that the inactive accounts that were able to apply did so during the very last days of 1.0 when SE turned on all previously inactive accounts so they could log into the game. I could be wrong. I don't know since I did not try to apply with my inactive account during that time frame. It just seems like the most likely scenario to me.
To be fair to SE, they have already expressly stated they would not address topics of this nature nor do they have to. They have been, frankly, bending over backwards to squeeze in as many people as they can just to try and make people happy.
I haven't gotten an invite but I don't have sour grapes over it. I'm disappointed, don't get me wrong, but I understand how these things work. The bottom line is SE shouldn't have to address people that feel entitled to be in the test when those people are flat out wrong.
Starting to wonder if the inactive accounts were able to apply after SE decided to activate all the old accounts so that people could log on for the final event.
It's the only explanation I can think of off the top of my head.
Meow
Any news if we're getting more invites soon? maybe 12/12?
