or maybe you don't know how to properly market toward a global language market? in fact, while we're on the topic- show me a company who does. outside of Square's attempts at MMOs it's pretty much uncharted territory.

and how does having one singular video guarantee that many millions more views? and how is it different from the combined total of views across the different language videos which are being viewed primarily by their target language markets?

I don't understand the purpose behind that quest/battle video. All it showed was stuff we're used to from old-school WoW-type MMO's. Generic kill/fetch quests with brainless combat. This doesn't mean all quests will be like that. Or that combat won't be intricate. But this is what they decided to show, and I don't blame people's reactions.

That said, I'm sure people will forget about these alpha videos once we get closer to release and they pull out the big guns when they start marketing the game properly.

Well i think it isnt tooo bad..

they dont know what to expect yet. We just saw videos from sightseeing and now questing.. each clip is going to have its own "topic" ..

the next is maybe going to be public quests (Fate), story dungeons, arcanist class or whatever..
and then they are going to see "ok there is much more".
and dont forget there is most likely a trailer coming soon also.

and then they have their "excitement" in it.. these alpha clips are just "clips" to explain the system within the game, how it is going to work, and it shows the truth (in contrast to commercial trailers like for GW2 etc.) ... in beta i am very sure we can expect something different.

More real trailers. these small videos arent trailers, they are video clips.
i think Yoshi P. knows very well that those video clips arent for the excitement, more for clearifiying the game system, and what is going on in the alpha test. i trust him, he is a wise guy, in my opinion.

but their talking about japanese guys being so different to US players.. is just ridiculous. as we know very well, the topics in Japanese forums are almost the same like in here (maybe they do also complain about these video clips who knows)..

its just ridiculous ^^ The First Lineage was based on a Diablo playstyle with an ismoetric perspective thats why also Lineage II was played mostly with mouse movement..

Alphas generally test the structure/design of the game, betas are more for content/balance. The video is there to showcase the UI functions/display, latency, response, etc. It is not meant to show how incredibly awesome, immerse and fine-tuned content is.

Gamebreaker TV dudes are completely ignorant and inept. A further nod to how terrible they are at their jobs, they obviously never read the "mouse is used for clarity" and "gcd's will be reduced." They act like level 10 in other games is something epic by comparison (Guild Wars 2 had the "end game from the start" mentality that got old super fast. Not all games are going to go the "your level doesn't matter at all!" route). I lol'd at the end when they softened up: "maybe this is just Alpha, guys." --- then got annoyed again at the slightly racist sounding remarks... "people in the East like to play slow games with one hand and smoke".... So WoW's Asian clients must be totally different than the rest of them, right? Completely worthless humans.

Yes, i prefer to not show that kind of videos to the public, people dont like to see boring videos at all and the game is not showing the full potential.
About feedback? that's why we have alpha testers, cuz the only feedback we're getting from that videos is ''boring, GW2 is better, i'm tired of 123123123, etc...''
I know we want to know how is alpha is right now, but this is not the right way cuz we're not getting good feedfack from the people

i didnt find the videos boring because i dont know... i have a brain and its telling me that were still in ALPHA phase... stop jumping the gun and stop generalizing your own personal views as that of the entire community. the videos are very good for an ALPHA .. i cant stress this enough lol ... ALPHA !
