New years is a bigger deal for them, but they don't really have a long christmas break. I don't even think most get christmas off. They do have the current emperors Birthday on like dec 23rd or 24th or something but their break isn't as long.

They don't get Christmas off because Japan isn't a christian country so they don't celebrate it.

Lots of people actually do celebrate it though. In their own way. Ever heard of Christmas cake?

People celebrate their own religious holidays, some will be on the 25th December, Christmas is a Christian holiday (well it should be, until it was commercialized) Jews I believe celebrate it as well, or a very similar holiday, but people like Muslims and Buddhists don't celebrate Christmas.

And yeah lots of people celebrate Christmas Christianity covers lots of the world as well. And yeah I have heard of Christmas Cake, I have eaten it.

    You're thinking of hanukkah.

What I'm thinking the OP may have meant (or atleast should have?) is whether or not the alpha tests that would still be ongoing at the same time would still be functioning even without SE's team actually on hand testing and troubleshooting at the same time. YoshiP did say earlier he'd like to run the servers longer, to a fuller 24hrs if abled, so that people could test for longer periods of time without it being a stop and go. Though I see that as being somewhat unlikely, if they did I'm sure there'd be different dev members taking out shifts incase the servers had to be rebooted from time to time. Or, they could just take the few days off, it wont kill anyone for them to behave like people from time to time lol
