are you kidding? you need to know your class in any game, especially Tera. some classes die in 1hit from bosses endgame. and even tanks need to dodge there too. so how is it different? the difference is in Tera you need to MANUALLY target some heals. so maybe you should go play that if you wanna feel elite. silly fanboyTBH, they need to bring back auto atk and tp gain. I hate WoW/tera/aion/etc play style. It's mostly tank and spank. What i liked about 1.0 is the fact that you have to know how to play ur class/job. Sure anyone can just play a class/job, but to play it well is what made 1.0 great. ex: a tank who don't know how to dodge, dps who should be does crappy dmg, whm who can't heal, blm who use spells correctly, etc. Don't get me wrong i still wanna see 2.0 at launch, but so far, i'm not very thrill about the battle style.![]()
I have another concern that stems off of this. Not only do we have a 3 second global recast, it is the only recast for all of our weapon skills/spells/etc. Is this going to lend itself to at higher level we'll find all our jobs just using their one strongest ability? If its available every 3 seconds along with everything else, why bother using any of the other skills?
One thing I loved about 1.0's combat system was how the different recast timers + combo system made it so you always had good reason to use ALL the weapon skills you had at your disposal. I loved the variety in attacks that this facilitated and the fact that our skills didn't become useless after we got new ones. It was a thing of beauty and made combat more engaging for me.
I realize we haven't seen how the new combo system will work. I also realize that the higher weapon skills might be managed more by something other than recast time, like higher tp cost. But those things considered... this system seems like such a step backwards. They spent over a year tweaking and fine tuning the combat system to make it something really solid and different... it was great! All it needed was the new server structure/graphics engine ARR is bringing. Why... why are they throwing out all that work for... this?
because in alpha recast simply don't exist, while they'll actually exist. So don't take what you seen as a fact pls
I agree with your statement. Its slowly peeling away from Final Fantasy and more like the standard icon spamming MMO's of today. No strategy at all.TBH, they need to bring back auto atk and tp gain. Well what we have at this point is what it is - it is fact, but it is also a very early build. I hope you are right in that its a matter of a simplified alpha build. Its good to remember this phase isn't really intended to test anything but the servers.
Though if that is the case, I would have been more hesitant to release a video specifically noted to showcase combat until it more closely resembled their intention. I just share my concerns on what we have to go on at this point.
lmao. This is true.are you kidding? you need to know your class in any game, especially Tera. some classes die in 1hit from bosses endgame. and even tanks need to dodge there too. so how is it different? the difference is in Tera you need to MANUALLY target some heals. so maybe you should go play that if you wanna feel elite. silly fanboy
I know right! It should go back to how FF1 was and never evolve. :/
So which style of FF did you expect? This is an MMO, there has only been one other MMO of the FF series.
It's kinda funny. Whenever someone says a game is or will be a spam fest, they usually are not very good at the game. Where was the strategy in 1.0 when people just followed the same skill rotation because of long cool downs? Yea, that wasn't strategy, that was following a pattern. Now you'll have some versatility, but I won't put it past players to try to find the best pattern. But even so, with low cool downs, you'll have the opportunity to adjust to the situation instead of just doing the skills that you have off cool down because you want that dps.
What do you mean? You don't think this global cooldown will remain?

i'm not talking about gcd (which it's confirmed it's reduced at highter levels) but skills not having recast in alpha
I'd like to see links to where it was stated that the global cooldown gets reduced at higher levels, and skills having individual recasts outside of alpha.
