Official Petition to Bring Back PlayOnline for ARR

I cannot believe that is a real video. That kid rocking back and forth to the hip hop music, wow lol. I thought that was like a joke video for sure. The rest of it seemed like an interesting proof of concept. Too bad PlayOnline couldn't live up to that stupid video.

I'll all for bringing back PoL as a portal to access the game.

why?

Because it's a method to make sure everyone who is playing is delivered information regarding the game. I dunno how many times, scratch that there were 23 times that i'm certain of that people would update thier game then ask in LS "so whats changed?"
They never looked at the patch notes because they couldn't be bothered to look at the lodestone or the forums. In the LS I was in of about 30-40 active players only about 5 of them visited the forums and even less the lodestone.

PoL was an excellent tool to get info to the entire player base.

A few tweaks so that you only had to input your account info once, and a button to immediately launch the game is all PoL needed.

Add windows to the SE store for those gamers who like to buy collectables or to buy SE music
another window to advertise up and coming games it's a win/win for SE and the players.

Sorry, BF3 beats everything what you said. Your LS members are just too lazy to check the lodestone or forums. How hard is it to use a web browser when you have the internet, seriously? Why would I want to buy SE music on POL? Let's look at social communities... Xbox has Xbox live... PS3 has PSN... Wii has Nintendo Network... PC has what...? Steam? Origin? Battle.net? Fuck that, I am not going to use my credit card elsewhere as I am considering about SE's server security.

EDIT: I do think we need a sort of "Friend List that includes all of people's characters" and "Messaging outside of the game through the launcher." maybe but other than that nah.

I do recall using the Playonline chat from the main FFXI website while on vacation a couple of times to keep in touch with people XD lol.

I think you totally missed the concept of a 1 stop portal for FFXIV.

Currently you log into the launcher and it tells you the game is updating. Now it's up to the player to open thier web browser and navigate to the lodestone or the forums to see what the update is all about.

it's an easy task.

however, it requires extra steps to find info. People are just lazy.

If the launcher became a more Play on Line like type portal. People would be able to navigate updates and other content while patching in thier game, without feeling like they have to search else where for that info.

A new lore update from the Herald, how many XIV fans do you think read that on the days it updated? How many do you think ever read it? I'm guessing very few.

Now if these updates were presented to the gamer upon logging in they would be more informed of lore being built for the game.

Same goes for all lodestone updates. It should be presented to the player upon logging in. With a system like PoL (not exactly like PoL) the access and delivery of information would be 100%.
