Ascilia is the name of the little kid who's father is killed in the main uldah plot AFAIK. Which happens in the same timeline as the main storyline, thus it'd be impossible for Minfilia to be Ascilia...

A lot of people do not understand what ACTUALLY happened in the 3 City State storylines before they all 3 met into the Path of the Twelve storyline. Ferne later in the thread confirms the "whoosh" in the Cutscenes is the Echo. Anonymoose is currently working on the Limsa, Catapult goes into depth with the Gridania storyline. Each storyline has precedent of a name change occurring, Ascilia -> Minfilia, Krimm -> Hermit of the Wood, Sthalmann -> Rostnsthal

Wow seriously? All cutscenes related to the main scenario are "Echoes"? when did it stop being the past? So we've been in the echo the whole time up to the point with Dalamud?

The first 4 City-state quests are an Echo (around 10 years[1562] before the present, same time as Battle of Silvertear Skies, Bozja Citadel incident) the whoosh noises you hear during the Cutscenes are Echo jumps. You're basically Echo jumping inside the Echo. When you see the 2nd "Starshower," and you pass out, that's when you wake up in the present (1572 of the Sixth Astral era) and the Path of the Twelve quests begin.

Ascilia and Krimm grow up because they're Hyur. Damielliot the Elezen kid from the Alchemist guild has aged, but because he's Elezen and sickly he hasn't really changed. Elezen and Lalafell grow slower and live longer than the other races.

While some of Gridania remains , it was rebuilt. SOme of the landscape within it has changed, some main areas remain. THe outside areas are totally different. Sanctuaries replacing camps. They are larger, so no more dull camps.

They clearly worked hard on this revamp.


Some NPC's reappear others are replaced. Through the story we will learn more.

We don't yet know the fate of Uldah or Limsa.

Now I'm kind of sad that the story for 1.0 has been scrapped. This makes it seem really good.
