    SE: "Greetings everyone! Based off feedback from a certain thread, we have decided to completely get rid of the armory system and give you the same exact thing you had in FFXI. It will cost a ton more money and delay it for another year, but we are determined to do whatever we can to keep you all happy! Thank you for your understanding."

    Bad jokes aside, I can't say to be sure, but wasn't the Armory System in question in one of the player polls and a high majority were in favor of keeping it?

    I believe what Hyrist is trying to say is that you can't get rid of the Armory System at this point in the game's development, it is just not happening. However, at this point in development, you can always give feedback on how we can improve the system. Pouting that the system exists won't get you anywhere really.

    I can't say I know what changes they've made for classes and jobs in ARR, but if the fundamental system stays in place the only combination that will truly seem different from each other is Arcanist > Summoner. Arcanist will get the Carbuncle pet and DoTs, while Summoner will probably inherit the DoT spells from Arcanist while utilizing the Primal essences.

    Being that they've already laid out the Arcanist > Summoner path, I think it's too late for them to alter the Armory system in any drastic way. If they were going to do it, it'd have to be after the game is up and running and be in either a major patch or expansion. Doing it later rather than sooner wouldn't be to their advantage though as I think it'd just create more confusion among new and old players alike.

    I just hope they're able to find a way to make classes and jobs more distinct from one another. One of my suggestions was to separate the abilities learned by the class and job at level 30. This would make the play styles a little bit different hopefully.

    SE has been really quiet on the Armory and Battle systems up until now, so I don't think we'll have a good idea on how either really work until beta.

    I agree with OP. Every job is a more specialized version of a class anyway, and once you're BLM or WHM, or PLD, or WAR, - why would you go back to being THM, CNJ, GLD, or MRD? It seems like every class eventually ends up as a job anyway, so why bother with having both?

    I'd like to see something like FF Tactics where once you are a certain level in two jobs, you can unlock another job. If you're WHM and PLD, you can unlock white knight for example. It would be awesome if when you get two jobs to 50, you can unlock another job. WHM and BLM would unlock summoner, MNK and BRD unlocks thief, BLM and WAR unlocks DRK, etc.

    They can still make it were ou need 2 jobs to unlock a class without changing anything. I'm hoping in arr jobs receive more skils and have stats that are more drastically changed from the class.

    The armory system can be improved, and I believe they are doing just that with yet another battle system overhawl. Main stat uses are changed, class skills are being added or changed, and we will just have to see if they finally fixed the Job vs class issue they never really addressed with 1.0, because currently changing to a job only makes you better at what that class is "Suspost" to be doing.

    But they don't want feedback about FF XIV 1.x anymore. They want now feedback about FF XIV ARR.

    Oh i see what you mean... anyway i think you are correct, this horse here has been long put to rest, and all the posts in this thread about it are pointless... why would SE remove something that adds diversity, and meat... like saying remove the potato from mashed potatoes that what i want. Or saying "i want that entire chicken.... minus the meat"

    Thread was started on 08-19-2011 over a years ago! last post pre nekro was on 08-25-2011 11:17 AM and was nekro bumped on 11-27-2012 05:49 AM!
