I must have died and went to crazy town. Why do people think classes are getting more then one job?
Never played wow, But I guess thats another. Speaking of dragoon, there were a bunch of similar reactions when drg was released with no wyvern and it turned out just fine.Trouble with FF games is you dont want to bang the golden formula too much (there is an obvious expectation of say a Dragoon, make a dragoon that cant jump you will be burnt before the patcher finishes).
I assume you are talking Dark Knight like from WoW? Yeah but no... lol (Tanking Dark Knight)
Just a thought but 1.0's lore doesn't need to have anything to do with any ties between classand job. Lets just say now its a new era and we all got our collective butt kicked the guilds reformed and everything is done differently now and why not (just with embelishments :P).
Strip your mind of the old FFXIV for a minute. I'm not talking about Gladiator as you know it. Gladiator would have skills that would be useful for both jobs and when you change to either job, you gain skills that make you completely different (and opposite) from the other. Opposite meaning, one is a tank (defense) and one is a damage dealer (offense).
You cant do that.. Because then you are making the class do well at both dps and tanking - each class must have a purpose each job must have a purpose they cannot be everything at once.
(Its bad balancing). If you make it do well so it can go into DRK or PLD you are either going to have to make every class OP or just have an OP class. OR make it suck at both and no one will ever use the class but to level up and then you are making classes useless and there is no point to have them.
Either way its a no no. The only solution I see is to make changing your job retroactively change the classes skills to be in theme with the job. OR make each job its own "class" that is unlocked from other jobs.
Wyvern isnt a core element of Dragoons. Only FFXI onry players or players who really enjoyed that element were complaining. Die hard through the FF series dragoon fans were like yeah its happened but it isnt a requirement.
Also people recognized that adding a beast pet to your class means you have to nerf your main character - which some didnt want.
Yeah, I couldn't agree more. They are going down to base FF jobs, with the exception of bard. Who in order to make it a job from archer, they made him have a bow and only a few songs. But Dark Knight would definitely be traditional, as well as the rest.Trouble with FF games is you dont want to bang the golden formula too much (there is an obvious expectation of say a Dragoon, make a dragoon that cant jump you will be burnt before the patcher finishes).

Being a DD isnt a core element of DRK either, its a theme, they can make the job work how they want it to. By your logic people unfamiliar with FFXI might expect DRK to be a tank because they have seen it tank more often than not.
That's like saying being a black Mage doesn't have to include dd magic. If you are playing by these rules our visions of ff are far apart.
Drk wasn't just dd in ffxi.
I can and will! Muwahahaha! You people take things too damn seriously. It's just something I think would be cool, of course they'd have to figure out balancing and all that crap. I'm not the one figuring that out, I'm just throwing a concept out there.
With that in mind. New lore that makes it so DRK and PLD are against each other or something would be really cool to see.... but whatever. I look forward to seeing what actually happens vs what we would like to happen.Just a thought but 1.0's lore doesn't need to have anything to do with any ties between classand job. p.s. Just to clarify. Just because I want to see what they have in store does not mean I do not want people to still suggest things and put their ideas out there. :P
