That said, how many gil will you bet me that there will be a thread that complains about only being invited to Alpha for the last week of testing?

I probably should have ignored him last night, but I was having too much fun making him cry. lol

As for your last question, of course there's going to be complaints about that. Then when beta starts, there's going to be complaints from those who don't get into that. It won't end until the game officially starts.

...and they start complaining about having to pay more than legacy members, jump mechanics, the sun is too bright, ect. lol There's no satisfying the people. Not really.

SE told active customers that they were exclusively entitled to apply to the alpha

Then they made all FFXIV Account holders active.

In order to rally the greatest possible number of adventurers for the final reckoning, the game will be opened to all FINAL FANTASY XIV Service Account holders between Thursday, November 8, 2012, at 8:00 (GMT) and Sunday, November 11, 2012, at the same hour (GMT).

Explains to me why anyone with a FFXIV account was able to apply for the Alpha. If people with inactive accounts were applying before the 8th then that would be weird, but I haven't seen any evidence of that.

Doesn't bother me either way.

Nope. They just opened the *game* to them, and only in a limited fashion for a limited time. In fact there were very clear restrictions in place. If their account was active they'd be able to access the lodestone, or the forums, and they aren't.

If you try to access the game now with an inactive account, you won't be able to, so your account obviously isn't considered active. If you try to register to the alpha right this moment with the same account, you will be able to.

Most probably opening the alpha application has been an unintentional consequence of that. But that's a whole different iussue.
