It's an alpha test of a video game, something that's incomplete and still full of bugs (otherwise it'd be called a 'beta'), rage is an entirely irrational emotion and a worrying sign.

Yes. If they need more testers due to lack of responses, they'll send for more testers.

They are looking for bodies to follow instructions for their testing effort. First and foremost.

the problem is not someone did not get invite event though they apply and have active account... but someone who applied with inactive account...do you think it is working as intended??

I do not know the particulars of the agreement within the email, but SE is looking for a sample population of testers. If they AGREE to partake in the testing for Alpha, SE is happy. If there are not enough responses, SE sends for more. If people are breaking the agreement SE responds accordingly, (bans and legal action) and send for more testers.

This mysticism about game testing is why actual game testers get terrible pay and little in the way of benefits, despite playing games to find bugs is a hell of a lot more tedious than you think, especially when your job depends on it.

I predicted that SE would do this. Even the dedicated 1.0 alpha testers have been pushed to the side as less active accounts/Last minute activated accounts get in. Bought GW2 just to fill the gap between 1.0 and ARR. Just find something else to play while we wait for more invites. Although it wont be easy hearing my friends over the Mic "whooow ARR alpha is so fun, etc." I'm gona have to mute some people lol.

Haha I know what you mean. I logged for abit on 1.0 and it is a ghost town but I still enjoy it and will explore a little more. Gotta say in this down time I can finally finish tackling my games backlog
