I'm not whining because i didn't receive the alpha invitation, but a lot of my friend that have quit the game AFTER THE FIRST MONTH FROM THE RELEASE GOT IT! And me (and others of course) supporting the game and paying for the crappy 1.0, didn't receive it.

Only who had an active FFXIV account was supposed to get the invitation right?

Now tell me dear SE, for the love of god WHY???

It was a kind of application site bug? If this was wanted? Just need clarification about this.

There's a lot of us that didn't receive it, but sadly paying every month and supporting the game doesn't guarantee you a spot though I'm pretty sure they mentioned somewhere that they gave some priority to active accounts. They're going to want to entice some people back though and what better way to get them to re-sub once 2.0 hits? To show them the progress they've made so far yet give them a chance to yet again test a game and help them rebuild.

I'm not sure all the invites got sent out yet, and I think those of us that paid all this time for it should have gotten a better chance at getting in.

HOWEVER!

SE is trying to get those customers back, show them they are really trying to fix the game and get them to consider returning. Its more a marketing thing than anything else imo.

If they quit and like improvements, they may come back. We stuck around so they say we're not as likely to leave.

I noticed it too. I don't know if there is a reason under it (Let the players who quitted experience ARR to make them come back) or simply emails have been sent randomly. I played non-stop since dayone till last day and didn't receive it...

I'm just glad my husband's account didn't get selected or I would have beaten him with a stick and refused to cook him dinner unless he let me tinker with it e_e haha.

That being said, I wish everyone luck on future selections!

I would love to actually see what the reactions are on the Japanese forums is to all this, or were they more carefull in making their selections there?

I have one friend on ts right now, that is laughing at me because he just played the free trial month at release.

He is one that is playing GW2 all the time and everytime i say something on FFXIV or even ARR, he'll say that it is gonna to fail again cuz is SE.

Tell me if this is justice lol ...

I'm sure they want to cater to the people who quit, to show them how much better 2.0 is, rather than us, the players they know will play for sure. And that makes sense, Yoshi said we all will be in the beta, but that may take some time and several waves of invites, depending on the needs of the tests.
