Ever googled an acronym? There are so many with the same format.

F2P is the generally accepted format (though we are using that term a bit loosely here since really its a hybrid of premium and free).

Free To Play = FTP. Makes sense to me, though of course having a CS background I read File Transfer Protocol, but in context it doesnt make sense so I read Free To Play.

Just like when speaking there, their, they're - context calls function.

FTP is used from everything including a function of IMF, a type of cable, a political party in Thailand, a New Deals project, and even a communist French resistance group in WW2!!
