10/10 post, Indigo. Humor, insight, and frank opinions. I particularly agree with the idea that ARR may never be profitable for SE, but feel that you're being too optimistic about the intention behind the project. For how long it took FFXI to be profitable, and considering that it never had any major hiccups along the way (unless you count WoW coming out and taking over half of its initial base), ARR will take over a decade of consistently strong customer presence to turn profits...especially when you consider high dev costs to create the new content, and the overwhelming difference in legacy payout to the average customer. That would make it the second most successful MMO in history next to WoW alone.

Confused on how OP thinks LoL is an MMO.
I would say it falls under RTS.
Whatever.

If you wanna play F2P MMO, go for it
I (we) will not hold you back
Just dont do it here

Look where WoW's popularity go it?
It left a terrible taste in the mouth of many, many long time WoW and Blizzard supporters/fans (that, and Diablo 3.. I mean dat game...).
Sure they're appealing to a new audience and good for them, but it was definitely a mistake to change their audience leaving many players upset.
ARR needs to stick to its target audience, and that is it.
tl;dr
MMORPGs with huge player bases are usually ruined by the sheer volume of players, e.g WoW.

Obvious troll, is obvious.

f2p is like open a very big door for rmt

WoW is the only MMO that can live healthy on sub base that can hold 5mils subs for years never drop that mark. and it'll stay that way.
Im sure ARR will pass ff11 on subs numbers, but need like 100-200%+ (1mil-2mil) stayble within a year if not ARR will be force to Free to play.
A nice mmo like ARR that have 1mil-2mil stayble subs can go long way, if that ever happen 1mil-2mils can grow 2-3 times in subs in 2-3 years. but for that to happen looking at % is only at 35% that will happen.
as for WoW have what % subs in the MMO market , they should be in the 50%+ to the whole mmo market sub base, if only can steal 25% out of them.![]()
