$75 to buy the game + sub fee for every month is was pay to play. Same amount as you probably spent if you played every month they charged.Eh... nani?? sorry your time spent in FFXI really has no relation to this at all... Though I really don't have to say anything really now do I... HO HO HO... Preypacer has you on the ropes...
You spent only $75 on this... so if I spent more I should get more then you? Is that how we are working this now?? Oh sorry no that's not how it goes... you and those that think like you are pretty sad you know that... Please do me a favor... Th side of the ship is over there... do jump off for me... thank you...

Oh but I bought a CE and and SE so I can get all the items :P I also bought FFXIII for the item that came with it... well and I wanted to play that at the time as well... and yes I paid when they started that up because it was worth it. So I think I beat you in money spent not that it matters at all... really it doesn't matter at all... I will be damned though if I'm going to pay so that you can play this game though... I'm paying for myself you pay for yourself or go away!
Are you truly not disgusted with the way you look at this for yourself? To get a free ride while others pay to keep the game going? you can not see fault in your words at all? You are truly sad... you know that... but don't worry... I have no pity for trash like you...

I don't feel bad for the way I think because I know how the free to play model works. The company hopes people will try their game since it is free then either get a sub, or buy stuff from their game's shop. The revenue on the game is made by those willing to pay a sub fee, or those willing to buy stuff on the shop. Are they going to get everyone to pay something? No they aren't that's just the nature of the model.Oh but I bought a CE and and SE so I can get all the items :P I also bought FFXIII for the item that came with it... well and I wanted to play that at the time as well... and yes I paid when they started that up because it was worth it. This free to play model may work on games with a flexible storytelling, but a game like FFXIV needs a stable income to add intended content. Having microtransactions may seem like a good idea for a newborn game, but this isn't a newborn game, the players who stick around know what they will get (Somewhat) While players who quit a long time ago or people who only heard about this game have the rumors to follow. If you want a free to play game, go play it then. Theres alot of them out there, none with the deep storytelling like FF. I played WOW, GW2 like i mentioned, AOC, TERA, Warhammer online, LOTRO which has a great story, but you kinda know it already. And alot of others MMO's.I don't feel bad for the way I think because I know how the free to play model works. Nothing beats the way you are sucked into the story like SE do it.
Opinion. Also, not a valid argument against a f2p model.
Personally, the f2p model only lends itself to games that have so little content that they need to suck players in somehow. In many ways XI would have lent itself to the f2p model more than ARR seems to, especially during formative levels. Games that have transitioned to f2p (Mainly DCUO and SWTOR...) couldn't justify a subscription only because of the awful time they gave players while leveling up, and the horrendous endgame they tried to shove down players throats. There's no guarantee that SE will be successful with 2.0, but starting a game with a f2p option is essentially telling people that the game isn't worth paying for; financial suicide.
