    Question To All FFXIV players.

Very short and to the point.. Did you think ffxiv was becoming the kind of game we want right as it was shut down for a ARR?

1.0 was pretty great for me, if you discount the horrible lag and horrible coding. 2.0 should be even better

my thoughts as well, but I am also worried at the same time that they are going in a Normal NA styled mmo..

Is was becoming too much like post-aby xi, and we all see how thats going for vana'diel. I'm glad SE is looking at XIV with a new perspective.

I disagree. 14 1.0 was still a young world, so there was plenty of room for expansion and additions. XI has been dangerously stacking content over old areas in an attempt to revive them, but they have been neglecting the huge gap they've created between lvl 30-99. It's a brutal uphill battle to get to the top in XI, and overwhelming for even those of us that return after a break.

I just meant in the ease of exp/gil, and the horrid rng style drop rates, and the relative ease to get the better types of gear, boring repitition. Things of that nature. In retrospect I can understand why they did it. But standing by gaming concepts that were great in 2002 were not so great in 2012. FFIV/VI, while some of the best in series could not stand up in todays market either as is with just graphic enhancements.

And I disagree about the brutal uphill battle currently in xi, exp/gil are incredibly easy to get, even in book burns you can go 1-99 in a couple days and skill cap in a single day easily, an empy, even dualboxing takes a couple weeks tops if you play daily and you can get top gear in a couple days if the rng doesnt screw you. Even ppl I helped break the first limit break a few weeks ago are running around in gear that would have taken us years to get pre-aby and touting a maats cap and empy weapon. Hell they even nerfed CoP to the point a whm or brd can solo nearly the whole thing and you can do things like open the gates in garlaige by just clicking a ??? near the entrance once. Even the limit breaks up to the 95-99 ones are easily solod since all you have to do is click on ??? anymore. As for farming gil/gear/everything else in the game all you need in xi is bst and ur good to go.

This is the argument a lot of people make, unfortunately, I have been witnessing it firsthand with the people that have created new characters whlile XIV is down on Phoenix.

Most of them are stuck asking what they need to do, where they need to go etc. I can't imagine starting out without knowing anyone, knowing the existence of a wiki and whatnot.

It's easy for us vets to say "oh its easy to level 1-99, book burns etc" but how much of that guidance will fresh new players actually PICK UP on their own if they just started the game on their own, with nobody? They get 50 gil, an adventurer's coupon, then run out to kill things. Then what? lol

Even if they do stick around to farm gil or whatever, in the end there's just not that many people in that level range to keep them interested. the folks in our XIV LS are fortunate to be able to rely on each other for guidance, but I feel bad for the people who have no prior knowledge of the game's mechanics going in. :x

Oh your on phoenix? That was my original homeworld! I can always reroll a char and we can start a returner ls and I can help you guys out with all the new crazy xi going on until we can return to Eorzea.

I was speaking as a returner too, I know XI is completely new player unfriendly.

Yeah a bunch of us are on Phoenix, some are entirely new to the game, some quit before a lot of the lower level things like books were implemented, so its a mixed bag and a half Lol but having people to talk to no doubt keeps them truckin' along.

Well if you mean: did you enjoy the game in the last week before the grand finale, yes! :P For the very obvious reason that only the ones that actually want to play, not for loot or for glory etc, did play. It reminded me of the time when it first came out and the only ones that stayed didn't know any better or were idiots. And since i'm an idiot, yes i liked it a lot.

No complaining about loot distribution, group setup, friend of friends, and all kinds of crazy mmo rules plus the fact that, almost, everyday there was a new event accompanied by a gm.

But judging from the posts above i think im missing the point
