Oooh NPC would be fantastic! I'd honestly never thought of that! And I totally agree with the line-change, would be much cooler with different vows etcI like rp but im lazy I would like the option of a guided npc experience lol. Like you choose if you want npc or player driven ritual. Just ensure the npc ritual doesnt use the classic lines associated with christian marriage (good place to write dialog off lore of the game).
Never got why they made it GM ran :/
Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means
The idea of a questline was mentioned pretty far back in the thread, it received a lot of positive feedback! It'd be a lot more fun I think to kinda have a quest line saying "Well hey, before you get married/joined/whatever'd you're going to need to earn your permit" or somesuch, beats having a little level requirement and makes the whole process a little longer and a lot more fun!Idea, the 2 people who want to have the ceremony need to run a quest or some type or a 2 person dungeon fighting and upon completion and finding all the pieces of something. The ceremony can go on, with out care of the character ganders.
- Complete quest
- Get CS naming [player a] and [player b] sword brother's/sister's, or something of the sort
- Give them a binding item
- ???
- Profit

I would even say make the quest long. Not to insanity length but long enough that when you are joined it isnt like "yeah we did this 12 seconds ago, as an after thought I think I want to try someone else".Idea, the 2 people who want to have the ceremony need to run a quest or some type or a 2 person dungeon fighting and upon completion and finding all the pieces of something. Like the quest idea- good to go along with the idea of bonding with a player as well. Could make really awesome moments / CS inside the quest itself (like fighting monsters in insane odds) or having side by side crafting .. tehehehe lol
Hell if it was something as such I'd run it with my brother, for the sake of clearing the content. Would not really be a bother, thing is however am getting the vibe that some are not looking at this as another game component. And are bringing RL views in here. The idea of a questline was mentioned pretty far back in the thread, it received a lot of positive feedback! Going of fantasy or even our past, bond between man and man and woman and woman is shown to be unbreakable as man needed someone they can trust to watch there back in war, and women needed help from other women while the men are at war.
That however is a brotherly bond, born from necessity. In ARR it will be easy to lore in as will be fighting a "war". I think people are looking past that and going in to the bedroom with there idea, an we get the Q.Q i quit people.
Pretty much what I've been saying the whole time lol. If the system is no longer explicitly romantic in any way then you can keep the "bedroom" stuff out of it.Hell if it was something as such I'd run it with my brother, for the sake of clearing the content. I agree there's a lot of folk bringing /rl into this - views such as religion/morals etc and this is a faaantasy game, so those views as much as I can respect them do not belong here. (that made sense in my head honestly, not so sure now it's written down, but I mean no offense!)Hell if it was something as such I'd run it with my brother, for the sake of clearing the content. I get what you mean about the different kinds of bonds too, I brought that idea up waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the thread (click the link in my sig to get teleported to like page 26!), and said that players could enjoy many different kinds of pacts; pacts between best friends, sworn siblings or even lovers yet each pair of players must determine what that pact means to them. This received a lot of great feedback too!
I'm yet to see anyone actually say "QQ i'm quitting", just a few saying "Well I know people that are..." To me that's kinda like dramatizing it a bit... The folks I know that were hoping that SSM was in the game are a bit narked at it not being implemented to start but still have a lot of desire to play the game.
It'd be awesome if they scrapped the idea of marriage completely, leave it to a nice quest line, player or NPC ran ceremony and then have the players define what their bond means to them. No squashed toes and everyone's happeh!

I think that players should be able to describe their bond - whether the ritual is vague enough or allows options to visualize (brotherly/sisterly hug opposed to perhaps clasped hands and a forehead touch or something as an emote option at binding). One implies romance but isnt like "its time for boom boom" and the other is available to those who are in it for a kinship (or want a different option).
I rather see it neutral on company stance of just adding the items needed and have the players handle it tbh. When I mean of working for it they put the effort into doing something like this by RP or making whatever vows script for it. Personally I don't want to go fight something on a wedding day can see it know sorry honey can't talk mesa killing monter atm hey I need a cure she responds should of thought of that before you snubb me it over ; ;? what i doooo ; ;Idea, the 2 people who want to have the ceremony need to run a quest or some type or a 2 person dungeon fighting and upon completion and finding all the pieces of something. Vows, wedding, marriage, is what am trying to get away from in here. Am aiming at doing quest X or Y to prove that 2 players are willing to do what it takes to help/save the other in a tight spot... or something like that. Or even better simultaneously each starting a dungeon from a different point and working to join team in the middle and kill a boss...I rather see it neutral on company stance of just adding the items needed and have the players handle it tbh. HAHA I really like that idea, though knowing my fiance he'd just get there way before me then solo the boss.Vows, wedding, marriage, is what am trying to get away from in here.
