In FFXI the storyline was that we did not die by the shadow lord and the 3 city with jeuno save us all . But what really happen was that altana love us to much she send us to other dimension because we really did die by shadow lord. Get it? the joke was it be funny if SE pull that again and 6+year later we found out we really did die by bahamut but louisoix love us so much that he send us to a fake world and only seem like 5year have gone by.

I guess not a lot of people would get the FFXI reference if they have not play ffxiv in the last 3years lol. i found that out by a friend who told me the story and i thought that was bullshit what they came up with and i'm happy i left before that.

Actually it was the Abyssea storyline In the Abyssea realm, we died trying to kill Promathia, so he absorbed Sel'teus and became Shinryu (spoilers, the boss of Abyssea)

In Wings of the Goddess, we don't necessarily die, but yeah there is an alternate Vana'diel where the Shadow Lord DOES win (spoilers: Lilisette's doppelganger Lilith comes from this realm). Who's is the REAL Vana'diel? Ask Lilisette or Lilith!

I really don't want XIV to go through another Wings of the Goddess/Abyssea thing..while it's fun "peeking into the past", I wouldn't touch that with a 39 1/2 foot pole with the lore XIV has...especially with..y'know..Bahamut asploding everything <_<

This is exactly why I stopped playing XI midway through the WOTG expansion. That all sounds awful.

WoTG was the best storyline based expansion imo.
