It might look better texture. I agree the engine will perform fine. Just dont expect that kind of grass because i believe they are almost all individually drawn

You would be correct.
Fact of the matter is, even a 'supposedly low-spec graphics' game like Minecraft takes a hit in FPS once mods are put in to make grass look better. And like someone mentioned earlier, not everyone owns a killer PC to make such things run smoothly.
If I had to sacrifice minor aesthetics for performance, it's a trade I'll gladly perform.

Its not that bad lol I've got my skyrim running like that. It takes freaking forever to set up and there are some incompatibilities /faults in skyrim programming that cause it to crash every now and then though lol.
And Yes Skyrim grass is awesome - I've only modeled crappy 2d grass so I have no idea how long it would take but I wish SE would make a PC "flora to break your computer" mode for those whose computers where made recently.

Minecraft has other reasons why it plays slow - grass is cake processing compared to the cubes lol. Its really not low spec even though it looks low spec. You would be correct.

(Though if your computer is powerful enough it wont matter any which way, it just may feel weird when you have an ok computer and minecraft makes it lag :P)

You're kinda missing the point, but nevermind.
The only real solution to all this would be to make FFXIV graphics moddable, but being an MMO I highly doubt this would be possible on a greater scale and thus user-created changes will be limited through the use of (officially illegal) .dat editing.

That skyrim with 100 mods looks fantasticIf ARR could have that in the future, i will quit, as i don't have enough money to purchase a very out of this world high end pc :P

SE claims to have the best looking MMO. Dont half ass the best looking lol
Make a sucky grass model for eh computers but there are a lot of computers out there that can handle much more then what even SE handed out in FFXIV 1.0.
Things like flora decals and density are often sliders in games - I see no reason why they cant do that now
Best looking does not necessarily mean it has to have the best graphics in all categories. We already all know that the renders are of lower quality in ARR compared to legacy, but the lighting/shadows more than makes up for it to make it a much better looking game graphically speaking.
So what you're essentially saying is that SE should create different quality versions of the same graphics so players with the appropriate specs can enjoy greater graphics quality in the game. I'll see you in 2015, then.

Honestly, I think that when and if the development team gets around to a DirectX 11 (11.1) patch in the future, ARR will possibly look just as good. I believe so, but jeebus, look at the grass on that Skyrim with 100 mods. Could ARR look like that in the future? O_O![]()
