I don't get why making a fuss out of this for ARR, can't you just create a male or female character and marry it with ur buddy? Is there an additional effect or ability that will add to your character if you got married?

This just made me wonder, did they implement a same sex marriage in ffxi?

There isn't a date set yes but he stated phases for it #1 launch of game w/o it #2 implement F/M weddings and #3 based on feedback SSM will or will not be added.

There's nothing saying we can't give the feedback now, or at least compile it ahead of time so that when Yoshida is actively looking for feedback this discussion will already be there. It's not quite a "useless" thread considering it's likely caught the eye of a few of the reps and devs, just judging by the size of the thread and the subject.

If he's already seen this thread then when the time comes the views expressed here will likely be taken into consideration. It's not like he's gonna say "Well this thread was started before I wanted feedback so it's useless."

It's not quite a good fix to the issue. What if you want to get married after you've invested time into your character? What if you don't want to have your gender decided by a marriage restriction?

Just recreate a new character then, pretty sure you can invest another time into that new character, you already have no life, might as well :P Hey i'm not against same-sex marriage but i think we should just give it a rest and enjoy whats in the box that the game provide.

They want feedback at some point, we're adding to a thread designed for that.

Players shouldn't have to create a new character just to take part in a feature other players can at will.

But you assume they exist, and have such pull over SEs fanbase that they would shy away from Leviathan's existence, ignore the Miner's guild. Not bat an eye at the swimsuits, but would crawl out of the woodwork over this?

My point is this: what is the source of your "negative consequences?" Its like this amorphous thing, what is it and why should we base the game lore around its mores?

For what it's worth, I don't care who you are. If you want same-sex marriage, have at it. If not, noone says you have to get married to the same sex. If someone wants it, then leave 'em alone, doesn't affect you.

I can ask you the same question to answer if was playable Iran, Egypt, for that matter they kill you. Your not an expert on other nations and nor am I so don't act like you have a grip on what can or cannot be ban in whatever country. Believe it or not and you and others might not like it there is company's that find traditional value important to them and they have a right to it same to other company's that have your set views. It not a matter of negative consequences maybe to them and I say maybe it a matter of there principle's something they hold dear to and if another company hold to your value same applies to you. Its about respecting both views something that human's have very hard time doing in this day and age <thanks media> is it fair no but that the world we live in with multiple views and beliefs.

Well, for NA players of this game, it seems the negative reaction would be about 506 people at the very least disappointed that they didn't implement it. Probably greater considering those who don't even visit the forums. I can't speak for the other regions, I think some people were keeping tabs on the Japanese thread.

Warlock, please try to state your opinions in a less hostile manner. You're free to post in this thread like anyone else but I'll ask that you keep things civil. Of course I would ask that of all here, including those particularly offended by what you've said. Everyone needs to calm down.
