Will we/Can we have these Final Fantasy items?

I'm talking about Phoenix Downs, hi-potions, mega potions, ethers, remedys, tents, etc.

I noticed in the game we do have potions (i.e. Ice Potion), but they are a novelty at best that only cure about 100-200HP. I've not seen any phoenix downs, or any other effective items that help cure status ailments or HP/MP in a way that can help someone in solo-play or in parties where the WHM is tied up or out of MP.

Is there a reason why we don't see these items? Will they be in 2.0? I think this would add a little more wiggle-room as far as how parties are set up. For example, if a BLM had some ethers, then when MP runs out mid-battle they can have one or two and get back into the game. Or if your job doesn't have Raise, a phoenix down would do this for a fallen party member. If you are adventuring with two friends and you're something like MNK, LNC, ARC - you can still cure each other with potions.

Phoenix Downs - Existed since 1.0.

    Hi-Potions - Existed since 1.0

Mega Potions - Existed since 1.0

    Ethers - Existed since 1.0

    Remedies - Existed since 1.0

    Tents - Hopefully.

Etc - Pretty much the majority of medicines found in all FF games (including XI) existed in XIV in some fashion except for the ones that induced certain status effects like mini/berserk etc. I think why you probably rarely seen them is because the general playerbase sucked and didn't actually carry these items.

Phoenix Down is already here, but as a potion. You can buy it in the company store for seals.
but it wouldn't be bad if SE rename the potion in Phoenix Down.

I don't see any recipes for these items and have never been in a party where someone had used a phoenix down to raise another party member. I know I have seen potions and ethers in-game, but again they only restore a few HP and are not really effective at mid to end game.

@Felis: If they are available through the GC, were they easily obtainable, or were they rather expensive? I'd assume with a small fortune you should be able to keep a dozen or so phoenix downs and hi-potions on hand for battle purposes.

200 GC seals for "Phoenix Down" (Company Issued Tonic or something similar). People didn't really use items like that in normal EXP parties but raise items, STR potions and Elixirs (especially when they were dropped by imperials for free) were really useful in eg stuff.

Yep..which is why I said you rarely seen because people rarely carried. The phoenix downs are from the GC for 215 total iirc, there's 2: 1 that's 100% revive and 1 that is a chance to revive.

    For example:

http://mooglebox.com/entries/heart-drops.php (these are variously named based on company but does the same thing.)

I'm assuming the potions don't heal for a lot (and have a cool-down timer) because they want to encourage party play. If you could chug easily obtainable health potions nonstop why would we need white mages?

Same reason you needed WHMs in FFXI even though you could chug down the majority of potions without getting medicated (no longer can use that tier of medicine for 30 minutes.)

FFXI sucked balls at handling medicines like this, I hope XIV handles it better.
