Where is FFXIV headed in terms of sexism?

Has anyone else noticed that there's no religious white knights in here?

I wonder why the objectification of women is less important than in-game marriage.

I'm a bit concerned for it, however this game isn't like TERA, and I think the developers have some taste when making gear :P

Yes... it's curious, isn't it? You are right, I think I might be a bit 'sheltered' since the only other MMO's I have played were FFXI and TOR, so I am used to that style of gear/dev team attitude, and expected more of a Final Fantasy treatment of women. I mean, for example, I quite enjoyed playing Dead or Alive... the boob jiggling was not my cup of tea, but hey, it's DoA and you know what you're getting. With Final Fantasy this isn't what I was expecting from the dev team.

I'm getting overly worried it could get worse, but there's no way to know that at the moment. Just to wait and see

No problem here with sexiness. Problem is with sexism thread is getting very de-railed by people misunderstanding this.

There is a guy Aiel Waste *YES calling you out* that wears the gear you mentioned on his monk. It shows the Lala's belly, so I tease him on having a sexy belly. "Show me dat belly" "Belly dance for meh"etc. Both of the words you attempted to educate me on contain the word sex. I totally sexually objectified him. It's all about that sex. Humans love sex. Gonna wait and see if he posts a thread about me

With all due respect to those who are sensitive to the Objectification of women, it is a pretty significant trademark of the series. This, like all Final Fantasy Games, is a High Fantasy Game and to put it Bluntly, Ugly people are not aloud to be main characters. That's just the way it is. More often than not, there are no ugly people at all. If there does happen to be an ugly person they tend to be Evil or Comic relief. Basically every female character of significance in every Final Fantasy has been Beautiful, Sexy or Cute and for a series of this Caliber, it works.

Personally, I would absolutely hate, and likely stop playing, this game if they turned away from their over the top beautiful/sexy/cute formula. It has nothing to do with sexualizing the characters. It's about making the people as pretty as the world. If you want to look at ugly people all day, I suggest you play Skyrim or Fable.

Vanity slots make the OP's point about not wanting to be forced into wearing sexy gear for stats into a non issue, so why are you guys misreading the OP and trying to bait an argument still?

All I see at the end here is several pages of taking what was said, twisting it into a topic it originally was not, and insult slinging.

Just let the developers develope the damn damn without whining about every little detail like adjustable breast size that will be up to the player to make the final decision
