For some reason, i don't like it when people call it a trailer. But thats cool, its easier to call it that.
I reckon this is 5:30ish of the ARR Opening Cinematic that deals with the end of 1.0. There could be up to 2-4 minutes more to this, which is kind of amazing since most companies give you 60 seconds of 'shiny' then cut to in-game engine. We have evidence of more to it in the teaser-trailers.
I think it is a mistake to assume that Bahamut needs to be tamed in order for the destruction to stop. I reckon he will get over being locked up for so long and go chill somewhere. People will just have to find a way to get to sleep knowing that he is out there. ^^

I think it's called a trailer for the simple reason that it's a 5 minute advertisement for ARR. (it even plays out that way at the end with the bass whoosh when the logo appears and the website etc)
There's been speculation that there's more to this video, which I'm inclined to believe.

Ending FMV in my eyes![]()
How Steel Cyclone should look!
Well done SE!

Can't it be both a trailer and an ending FMV?
It's amazing either way. I've been showing this to anyone who will watch it and they all agree that it's astounding. I also notice the viewership numbers for FFXIV stuff is way up when I check out things on youtube, so maybe the promo campaign is starting to work! I can hope anyway.

I didn't shed manly tears, but I did watch the trailer 10+ more times before my brain exploded and I woke up several hours later, well refreshed, and hungry for more XIV ;_;

You know... that may well be the case, and I wonder... because it does seem to end rather abruptly, doesn't it? I mean, it's a good ending, an epic ending. But, it seems like it's supposed to continue from that point. The way it ends seems very "mid-sentence" to me. Even upon watching it the first time that occurred to me. It "felt" weird. Epic and extremely tear-jerking.. but weird. Inconclusive.I reckon this is 5:30ish of the ARR Opening Cinematic that deals with the end of 1.0. There could be up to 2-4 minutes more to this, which is kind of amazing since most companies give you 60 seconds of 'shiny' then cut to in-game engine. We have evidence of more to it in the teaser-trailers.
It could well be that the parts immediately following that show the conclusion of Bahamut's attack (if Odin does show up, etc), and then "us" being safely teleported to the future to reveal all that's become of the world.
Interesting...
I was also thinking last night. That poster behind Yoshi-P and Wada, etc.. during the Live Letter shows several Primals. Might it be that with the "failure" of the Twelve to protect Eorzea from Bahamut, that it will bring in the time of Primals becoming the new Gods of the world?
Could The Labrynth of Bahamut be his new prison, and that's what those "keys" sticking into the ground are for when all is done?
It could link back to how the game originally begins - with the characters seeing those beings shooting down from the sky.. and Yoshi-P has indicated that the story in 2.0 will be closer to what it was supposed to be for 1.0.
Hmm.... now my mind is going at 100mph, and I haven't had my first cup of coffee for the day. This could be dangerous.

These are people that don't know Final Fantasy, it has a reccuring moon theme, where there are threats to the moon, or things coming from the moon, see FFIV, fighting on the moon to save the world and the crystals, let's not forget about Bahamut living on the red moon (could be the after years or interlude) and FFVIII's lunar cry.Well, mixed in with that now is an increasing amount of people claiming they ripped off or "copy and pasted" Cataclysm and GW2's themes. It's par for the course though. First the positivity comes out, and then you get the people all vying to be "that guy" coming in with their ridiculous remarks trying to undermine it all and deflate SE and their fans.
Quite funny to see.
Dalamud and Bahamut fit well into the Final Fantasy universe, and they have solid roots in the Final Fantasy universe, if anything GW2 ripped of the classic Final Fantasy games.
