I don't think our efforts were a waste, Yoshi actually brought this up in the Live interview, he said something along the lines of it may seem like your prayers and efforts were a waste but they were not, and we'll find out what effects they had in ARR.

Nah, he definitely didn't save any Garleans. Just 'us' the adventurers. I think we can safely assume the entire VIIth Legion is now wiped out. We can also assume Gaius van Baelsar and his XIVth legion (final fantasy xiv heh) are ready waiting in the wings to go after a weakened Ul'dah, Gridania, and Limsa Lominsa or possibly be backed into a corner with an angry Bahamut in their face.

I wouldn't say our efforts were in vain. Better to have Bahamut by himself than Bahamut with a powered up Garlean and his army.

Auto-translation and the ability to jump into the past are pretty sweet features, IMO.

If he didn't how is all the other guys still alive in 2.0? Giaus is alive in 2.0 is one of the main villains in 2.0 as stated on the 2.0 website. He was on the battlefield when the dragon king ran free.

Actually, he was in an airship...he easily could have gotten away. I don't think Louis was able to save many more than the adventurers...honestly wouldn't be surprised if the 3 leaders are gone

    The short answer is no.

There was never any direct point to the things we did in 1.0, because the story and everything surrounding it is meant to be discarded.

What indirectly was proven by our exploits in 1.0, however, was that we were competent enough to unite the 3 nations, stop Castrum Novum, defeat 2 primals, succeed where the Darklight Battalion failed, and reforge legendary weapons once thought lost forever. Then, we (IN-LORE MIND YOU, NOT IN-GAME) were stationed on the front lines, cutting a swath through even the imperial magitek.

Louisiox saw our potential, and assessed that we are Hydaelyn's only hope only because he had personally saw many of our triumphs and knows what we're capable of.

Basically, 1.0 is just a big prequel to ARR. Its events are immutable and unchangeable, we're destined to fail, but we live on to become the people of A Realm Reborn.

The GC leaders survive and they are on/near the battlefield. Gaius is in an airship a pretty good distance from the 'fight.' Bahamut's Megaflare didn't hit everyone. The Garleans on the battlefield were the VIIth legion a.k.a. Van Darnus' and those stationed in Castrum Novum. The XIVth Legion (the ones who occupy Ala Mhigo currently) are far away and all we see is Gaius in an airship near the battlefield but not on it.

Well i'd liek to believe the little that we did do may have saved enough lives so that Eorzea could be reubilt from te ashes of Bahamut's fury. I mean had me not killed Nael, Bahamut may have been able to do alot more damage as the Garlean forces aiding him would have been more organized and vicious. It can also be said the other way around, we also had a negative impact on this realm by killing the primals we fed more power to Nael and Bahamut which is probly the reason he continued to fall despite all our actions to prevent ot.

The resealing failed due to a lack of aether to sustain such a powerful creature due in part to him feeding on the same aether prior to emergence and Atomos drinking up tons of it on a daily basis. Everything was stacked against us and the best we could do was fight as hard as we could to save as many as we could. While we failed to save the men/women in Mor Dhona we may have done just enough to keep Bahamut from leveling ALL of Eorzea and the citystates can rebuild from the minor (or in limsa's case major) damage caused by the debri and Bahamut himself.

I like that they had us go through everything and in the end we failed only to be saved so that one day we might be able to save the realm for good.

Dalamund falling will only be mentioned in history to players of 2.0, but we can actually say that we were there when the red moon fell. :3

We'll know whether or not any of it helped come ARR when we find out why the realm isn't totally destroyed and why Garlemald hasn't taken over, and why Bahamut isn't still terrorizing everyone.
