Why not, the whores at the Miner's guild already flirt with female characters and allude to naughtier things.

"Thy life is a river to bear rapture and sorrow
To listen to suffer to entrust until tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment for the new leaf doth grow"
It's a freakin game. Why are we worried about what Square's political stance on an IRL topic is? Getting married in a game is retarded anyways and worrying so much about it to even question whether or not they'll allow same-sex marriage is even more retarded.

Marriage equality all the way!!!![]()
In RL (i.e real life....if you didnt catch that) i don't support it personally. But honestly it's a video game and not RL so i dont care if it's there. That's kind of the point of a video game for me, escape reality and just do what ever because it's just old fun. The whole marriage thing in a video game i think is funny and really would only do it for a laugh speaking for myself.
Oh and really the only concern would be. Do we really need to marry another persons avatar unless it yielded cool items or benefits. Because for me, on the topic "is game marriage even needed" i would say if there is nothing but a title that comes out of it i would say no don't put it in there at all only to give the development team room to work on other, more meaningful things that would speed the process and release date up. All that programming and time it takes to create something that doesn't boost my stats or give me anything i don't think i care for it.
It shouldn't just be about what you're getting out of it though. For some people it might be but others do want this for reasons other than some tangible benefit. Just because you don't want it other than for some benefit doesn't mean others share that sentiment.Oh and really the only concern would be. They've already been working on this feature so the dev time is spent/being spent so there's really no going back. If they decide to not put the feature in at this stage all that will accomplish is completely wasting the time already put into it.
As many have suggested, naming the feature something other than marriage will allow them to avoid any PR issues while removing the restriction.
I don't see the use of this thread other than time killing reading the arguments and getting amused by some.
I'm glad they won't implement SSM, and hope they never do. I understand that maybe a guy makes a female character and say his "wife" created a female character and they wanna get married in game. Well, then just create a male character such as yourself, they made male Mithras and Female Galkas in ARR (or maqutos and whatever their name is) so now you don't have an excuse.
To me as a guy it feels wrong to choose a female character as a main character (wouldn't mind picking a female character as a mule for storing items but then again in FFXI I had 3 characters, 2 mules and none of them was a female) but this is my own opinion.
lol, choosing opposite sex or SSM is just unnatural =\, and the latter is just gross :<
I saw over 500 votes to SSM and i'm sure most of them want it just for the "lol"s of it and probably don't care but just to oppose those who don't want it (this is a common trait of typical american gamers from what I've seen over the years of online gaming)
